YATES, Kathryn B. Davis

Kathryn Yates, 76, was born June 10, 1931 in Hatten, MO to John Nelson and Nettie Mable Davis and passed away Dec. 11, 2007 at Clinton Rehab Center, Clinton. Besides her husband, Bill Yates, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mable Davis, seven brothers, Clarence, Claude, Marvin, Leonard, Stanley, Mansil and Charles Davis; five sisters, Grace Cross, Nettie Herron, Nadine Wilson, Amy Hursh, Gladys Jones and many nieces and nephews Kathryn is survived by three daughters; Sharon and John Cawood, Lowry City, Joyce Murphy, Archie and Janice and Ed Massey, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren, Shelly, Sheldon and Jason Greer, Jenny Ashley, Jody Hobbs, Karie Limdell, Tamra Pinson, Clint and Bernita Tillotson and Denise Brewster; six great granddaughters, Grace Greer, Krystle Caylor, Nicole King, Ally Pinson, Nikki Brewster and Desirae Bell;
eight great grandsons, Anthony Greer, Colby Apolinar, Cody Lyndell, Dakota Derek and Dalton Tillotson, Dillon Bell and Jared Brewster; one great great grandson, Matthew and one great great granddaughter,
Kadence. Services for Kathryn were Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with Reverend Sheldon Greer. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace", "God on the Mountain" with Hazel Williams, soloist; "Farther Along" with Pat Cooper, soloist and "I'll Fly Away", "Old Rugged Cross" and "I Can Only Imagine".
Casketbearers were Robert Hursh, Bobby Davis, Larry Davis, John Davis, Eddy Davis and Billy Herron.
Honorary casketbearers were Lowell Cooper, Darrell Heron, Rodney Hursh, Jim Crocker, Donald Herron and Sherman Smith.Interment was in the Pleasant Mound Cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

YATES, William Charles

William Charles "Bill" Yates, 92, was born on Dec. 18, 1913 in Missouri City to Thomas and Kathryn Bessie Davis Yates and passed away on Aug. 20, 2006, at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. Services are Friday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. in the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Chapel with Reverend Larry Sherman officiating. Musical selections will be "God On The Mountain", "Peace In The Valley" and "I Can Only Imagine". Casketbearers are Bill Yates, Jim Yates, Tommy Yates, Travis Yates, Tom Yates and Ernie Yates. Honorary casketbearers are Jim Crocker, Will Yates, Robert Hursh, Jim Carroll and Dean Murphy. Military honors will be given by Clinton VFW Post #1894. Interment in the Pleasant Mound cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

YATES, William Charles

William Charles Yates, 92, was born on December 18, 1913, in Missouri City to Thomas and Alice Hocking Yates and passed away on August 20, 2006 at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. Bill was united in marriage to Kathryn Davis and with this union came three girls, Sharon, Joyce and Janice which he raised on his own.
Bill was proceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alice Yates, four brothers, Luther, Arthur, Ernest and Johnny. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathryn, three daughters, Sharon and John Carwood of Lowry City, Joyce Murphey of Archie and Janice and Ed Massey of Warsaw, ten grandchildren, Shelly, Sheldon, and Jason Greer, Jenny Carwood, Billy Hobbs, Kari Lyndell, Tramra Penson, Clint Tillotson, Bernita Bell and Denise Brewster, thirteen great-grandchildren, Anthony Greer, Kyrstal and Nicole King, Cody Lyndell, Colby Apolimar, Alli Penson, Dakota, Derek and Dalton Tillotson, Dillon and Desirae Bell and Jared and Nikki Brewster, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Services were on Friday, August 25 at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel officiated by Reverend Larry Sherman. Military honors were furnished by Clinton VFW Post #1894. The interment was held at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery. The casketbearers were Billy Yates, Travis Yates, Jim Yates, Tom Yates, Tommy Yates, and Eric Yates. The honorary casketbearers were Jim Crocker, Robert Hursh, Will Yates, Jim Carroll, Dean Murphey, Ted Sink and Cecil Carroll.

YOAKUM, Donald R.
Donald R. Yoakum, 77, of Osceola, passed away at his home on April 15, 2007. Donald was born on Dec. 28, 1929 in Richmond, the son of Millard Harlow and Grace Mae (West) Yoakum.  Don spent many years as a heavy equipment operator. he was a member of Local #101 Operating engineers of Kansas City and also a member of the Operating Engineers of California. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean war. Don was a member of the VFW #4197 in Osceola and the American Legion in LaFeria. he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #278 and the Shrine in Kansas City, Mo. In Sept., 2002, Don was united in marriage to Ronda S. Downhour. They spent their summers in Osceola and the winter months in Harlingen, Texas. Don and Ronda were fulltime RV’ers. He is survived by: his loving wife, Ronda, of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Fern Still and her husband, Lewis of Osceola; stepson, Ryan Gracey of Arlington, Texas; Luke Mathews and Johnnie Mathews, affectionately known as his ‘adopted sons’; Luke’s daughter, Kaitlynn Mathews; and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Yoakum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribtutions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in care of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home. Final disposition, cremation. Masonic services will be held on Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Arrangements are under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola. YORK, Beulah Mae Simrell

Beulah Mae Simrell York, daughter of William Frederick Simrell and Elsie Susan Kearney Simrell, was born August 22, 1911, and passed away September 27, 2005. She was a graduate of Flemington High School.
She came to Osceola and worked in the Republican Paper office as type setter, setting type by hand. Later she was employed by the telephone company as an operator and worked there until the company went dial. Beulah married Amos York on January 7, 1933.She is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Simrell of the home and Verdean Keller of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three nieces, Carolyn and her husband Douglas Hopkins of Warrenton, Va., Patricia Ann Keller of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Janet Kayle and her husband Rev. Kenneth Brownd of Edmond, Okla. She is also survived by three great nephews, two great nieces, two great-great nephews and one great-great niece, several cousins and many friends. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant brothers, brother-in-law John Keller, and nephew John Frederick Keller. Services were held Friday, September 30, at Sheldon Goodrich Chapel. Ministers were Kenneth Brownd and Father Larry Lewis.
Music was “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”, “Precious Memories” by Rev. Mary Guy, soloist and Gail Ingle, accompanist. Casket bearers were Mike Sprowl, Dennis Garrison, Harold McCrea, Willis Beardon, Bob Ziajor and Merle Simrell. Honorary casket bearers were Charles Kincaid, Jim Naylor, Ray Carroll and Charles Sheldon. Interment, Osceola Cemetery and arrangements by Sheldon Goodrich Funeral Home.

YORK, Edith
Appleton City Tribune, Tuesday, 15 September 1908
Deep sorrow was brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. York, residing in the south part of our city, in the death of little Edith, their bright infant daughter, last Thursday after a brief illness. The little treasure was born May 16, 1907 and for a little over one year blessed the home with her infantile form and ways, and then she passed away to the great beyond. The remains were taken to Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bates County the following day, where funeral services were held.

YOUNCE, Harlan

Harlan Younce was born Feb. 10, 1945 in Biscuit Pike, Kentucky to Oliver and Emma [Bentley]. He passed away Dec. 28, 2008 at his home in Roeland Park, Kansas. Harlan worked for J.E. Dunn as a heavy machinery mechanic. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Dean Younce and four brothers; Bruce, Wiley, Holly and Venis. Harlan is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. Younce of the home; daughter Renee Nickerson and granddaughters Courtney and Caitlyn Nickerson, Belton, Missouri, oldest son Marion Wickliffe, middle son Shawn Wickliffe and grandsons Andrew and Brent Wickliffe of Roeland Park, Kansas and youngest son Kevin Wickliffe and cheryl Myers, Olathe, Kansas; two sisters, Ruth Hall and Ruby Martinez; brothers, James, Oscar and Frank Younce, nephew Johnny Younce and other relatives and many friends. Services were held Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Minister was Greg Mangum. Casketbearers were Andrew Wickliffe, Darwin Gardner, Jim Myers, Johnny Younce, Steven Younce and Dave Futrell. Interment was at Kings Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements by Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.

YOUNG, Tyra A. Childers

Tyra A. Young was born July 7, 1957, in Independence, the daughter of Jerry Dale and Margaret Yvonne (Sartain) Childers. She died at St. Luke's Medical Center, Kansas City, on August 5, 2006, at the age of 49
years. Tyra was a homemaker. She is survived by one son Chris Young; three grandchildren, Danielle Young,
Devin Young and Dalton Young and her mother Yvonne Sartain, all of Deepwater; two brothers, Terry
Childers of Oak Grove, and Troy Cross of Kansas City, and one sister Tracy Myers of Lake Anders, South
Dakota. Funeral services were held at Deepwater Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 9. Interment was
in Lowry City Cemetery.
