One sister resides at Cleo, Ok., and a brother and sister reside in Cumberland county, Illinois. None of these were able to attend the funeral on account of the suddenness of death and the distance.

FERREL, Cleada
Appleton City Journal, 2 November 1916
Another flower buddeth on earth to bloom beyond the clouds. It was indeed very sad when the news came over the wire that little Cleada, the youngest daughter of Elmer Ferrel, was dead. She was born February 25, 1916 and died October 27, 1916, being 8 months and two days old. She leaves a father, two sisters and two brothers. Her mother passed to the Great Beyond when Cleada was only two days old. It is true that there is a grief which can be relieved by no earthly power yet the sympathy of friends can better fit the mourners to endure their sorrow and to reconcile them to the will of Providence. Those who have gone through the same afflictions are best prepared to offer true sympathy to the bereaved ones. So, friends, the greatest consolation anyone can offer is to refer you to the promise of Him who hath said, "Lo, I am with you always." The voice of your darling can cheer your home no more but it is tuned for a higher, loftier ministry. Let it be a time to unite your souls to him who granted you her cheering presence for those eight months. Weep not that the flower is plucked so soon, for it is now ever safe from the blast of a cold world and the temptations and trials you must here endure. You cannot call her back so resolve, as did David, to go to her, and strive as a family to be united in the sweet beyond. - You have a treasure laid up in the city of God - A bright jewel that never can rust. - For a while she dwelt with you in a casket of clay, - But the casket is now in the dust. - And as here in the light of this beautiful eve - You're thinking of your loved one o'er and o'er, - And say to yourself in the city above - You will find your lost jewel once more. - The dear Lord who gave her and took her away - Will not leave you forever alone - He will give her back to your bosom again - When you go where your loved one has gone.

Although P.T. suffered sadness in his life, just as we all do, he worked through it with a calm acceptance that taught all of us to look to the future with hope and a positive attitude. His personality was ageless and his friends ranged from young to old. He knew how to give and to receive friendship, to impart that special God-given gift of love to his fellow man in a gentle and caring manner to one and all.
