Lawson, in Speedwell tp., St. Clair County, Mo., on the 9th day of May, 1868, one bay horse with white specs over him, hind feet white, right fore foot white, lariat marks above the left knee, shod all round, saddle and harness marks; supposed to be 7 or 8 years old, 15 hands high, branded on the right shoulder with H.W.; no other marks or brands perceivable, and appraised at $23 by Eli Spencer and J.W. Kissinger, before.

Taken up by Mark Allison, in Monegaw Township, St. Clair county, Missouri, as a stray, a chestnut sorrel Gelding, about 7 years old, and about 18 hands high, a bald face and white extending down under the curb chin, four white feet, the white on the hind legs coming up nearly to the knees, a white spot on the back, a little white on the right side of the neck, a blemish in left eye, no other marks or brands perceivable, appraised at $60 by J.M. Biship and J. Grible before.

Chester, of Monegaw township, St. Clair co., Mo., on the 20th day of October, 1870, one black mare, 13 hands high, snip on nose, white on right hind foot, small lump on right hind leg above pastern joint, six years old, appraised at $50, by Barnett Millerson and Joseph W. Ashmead, before John Bennett, J.P., This 7th day of Nov., 1870.

Stray. – Taken up by W.L. Reece, of Osceola township, on the 18th day of October, 1870, one bay pony mare left hind foot white, a star in the forehead about 14 hands high, 8 years old past, and one bay horse colt, with a star in the forehead, both hind feet, both appraised at $35 by T.H. Wright and T.J. Younger, before A.B. Prock, J.P.

Administrator’s Notice. – Letters of administration on the estate of George Schoonover, deceased, were granted to the undersigned on the 14th day of October, 1870, by the Probate of court St. Clair county, Mo.
All persons having claims against said estate are required to exhibit them for allowance to the administrator within one year after the date of said letters, or they may be precluded from any benefit of such estate, and if such claims be not exhibited within two years from the date of said letters, they will be forever barred.

Notice. – United States Land Office, Boonville, Missouri, October 29th, 1870. Whereas, complaint has been entered at this office by Thomas B. Freeman, against William T. Hatfield, for abandoning his homestead entry No. 3882, for the west half of the south east quarter of section seventeen (17), in township thirty-seven (37), of range twenty-seven (27), dated Boonville, Mo., July 11th, 1866, with a view to the cancellation of said entry; now, therefore, the said parties are hereby notified and summoned to appear at this office on the 22d day of December, A.D. 1870, at ten o’clock in the forenoon to respond and furnish testimony concerning said alleged abandonment. And notice is also hereby given that depositions to be read in evidence on the trial of the above cause, may be taken at the office of the clerk of the county court of St. Clair County, MO., and before the said clerk on the 8th day of December, A.D. 1870, between the hours of 8 o’clock A.M. and 6 o’clock P.M. and continued from day to day till completed.
And it appearing from the affidavit of Thos. B. Sutherland and A.M. Head that said William T. Hatfield is a non-resident of the State of Missouri, it is ordered that this notice be published in the Osceola Herald, for four weeks consecutively, the last insertion to be two weeks before the day of trial aforesaid.

Administrator’s Notice. Notice is hereby given to all persons that letters of administration upon the estate of George S. Allcorn, deceased, have been granted me by the Probate court of St. Clair County, bearing date Oct. 27th, 1870.
All persons having claims against said estate are requested to exhibit them to me for allowance within one year from date or they may be precluded from any benefit in such estate; and if not presented within two years from date they will be forever barred. Anderson Morton, Administrator.

Choice Lands for Sale at low rates. The Lands belonging to the Merchant’s Bank of St. Louis, which lie in the counties of Bates, Vernon, Barton, Jasper, Lawrence, Dade, Polk, Cedar, Hickory, St. Clair, Benton and Henry, are now again in the market and here is a chance to get good lands at low rates! W.C. Applegate, of Brunswick, Mo., is the General Agent for the sale of these lands. There are about 11,000 acres of these lands in St. Clair county, part of which are improved and part unimproved. Persons desiring to purchase in this county will do well to learn the prices and terms for these lands, before looking elsewhere.

Stray. – Taken up by C. Vaughan, in Osceola township, on the 11th day of October, 1870, one white steer, 6 years old, marked with a crop and underbit in the right ear, and an under halt crop in the left ear; also one red and white spotted steer, bush of tail off, 8 or 9 years old, marked with a crop and split in the left ear, and a crop off of the right ear, appraised at $100, by J.F. McGuire and Littleton Clarkson, before A.B. Prock, J.P.

Trustee’s Sale. – Whereas James F. Boswell and Sterling Cooper, of the county of St. Clair, and State of Missouri, by their certain deed of trust, dated the 17th day of March, 1866, and now of record in record book “N”, pages 418, 419 and 420, in the recorder’s office in the county of St. Clair, and State of Missouri, conveyed to the undersigned as trustee, the following described tract of land, situate in the county and State aforesaid, to-wit: Two-thirds (2/3) of a certain lot of land on which Cox & Ritchey is Mills stand, and known as the Mill Tract, lying in and being a part of the southwest quarter o section twelve, in township thirty-six of range twenty-six, containing nine (9) acres more or less, beginning at a stone corner on the west side of Sac river, thence 16 ½ deg. east, 36 poles to a stone corner on the west side of said river, thence east 22 deg. north 52 poles to a stone on the east bank of said river, thence north 36 ½ deg., west 26 poles to a hackberry tree and stone, thence west 8 deg. south 44 poles to the beginning which said conveyance was made in trust to secure the payment of two certain promissory notes therein described and the accruing interest thereon, and whereas said notes have become due and remain wholly unpaid; now, therefore, by virtue of said deed of trust, and at the request of the holder of said note, I hereby give notice that on Saturday, the 26th day of November, 1870, at the front door of the court house, in the town of Osceola, county of St. Clair and State of Missouri, between the hours of nine o’clock in the forenoon and three o’clock in the afternoon, I will sell the above described real estate at public vendue, to the highest bidder, to satisfy said notes together with the cost and expense of this trust and the proceedings there under.

Notice is hereby given to all concerned that I have made a just and true exhibit of my accounts as Guardian of the person and the estate of john Piper, minor, and have filed the same with the Probate Court, and I will on the first day of the next regular term of the St. Clair county Probate Court, to be begun and held on the 2nd Monday in February 1879 apply to said Court or leave to make a Final Settlement of my Guardianship account and for nay, discharge as such Guardian.

Stray Notice.
Taken up by J. C. Landaker, and posted before S.M. Gracy, a Justice of the Peace in Butler Township, of St. Clair county, on the 2nd day of December, in the year 1878, the following described property: One sorrel pony horse, about eight years old, about 14 hands high with white streak in forehead, saddle marks on the back, snip on nose. Appraised at the sum of 20 dollars.

Taken up as a stray and posted by John B. Dallas, before Hugh Morris a justice of the Peace in and for Roscoe Township, St. Clair County, Mo. One brown mare mule with a slit scar inside the right thigh. Supposed to be two years old last spring. Appraised at $35. No other marks or brands perceivable.

Byland a justice of the Peace in Taber Township St. Clair County Mo. on the 8th day of Jan. 1880, the following described property: one blue speckled steer, 5 years old, di'n brand on left side, right ear cropped, appraised at $18, One red yearling steer branded on right hip with letter H, no ear marks, appraised $10. One suckling calf, red with left ear cropped, under slope in the right, appraised at $2 by W.H. Carroll and T.J. Carroll.

Byland a Justice of the Peace in Taber Township St. Clair County, on the 27th day of Dec. 1879, one two year old steer, color red, marked with slope and crop in left ear and branded with figure 2 on left hip, appraised at $10.00, by R.B. Jones a Justice of the Peace in Taber Township St. Clair County on the 15th day of December 1879, one 3 years old red roan steer white sides head legs and belly. Branded with H, on left hip, appraised at $20 also one red and white spotted yearling steer marked with crop and under bit in right and slit in left ear, appraised at $10.

Administrator's Sale of Real Estate
Whereas, the Probate court of St. Clair county, Mo. at the Nov. term 1879, of said court as an order of record, ordered that William Branson, administrator of the estate of Lovell Carpenter, deceased, sell the real estate of said Lovell Carpenter, deceased, to the highest bidder for cash to pay the debts of the estate of said Lovell Carpenter. Now therefore in obedience to the said order of sale, I will on

County Court Proceedings
County court met Monday and Tuesday last week. Following are the proceedings:
Geo. W. Martin, justice of the peace for Doyal Township, resigned. Martin Kelly appointed to fill vacancy.
The Lowry City road to Crow Island ordered to be made 60 feet wide.
Taber Township ordered to be divided into three road districts.
The poor farm awarded to Frank Hannah at 885. per year for each pauper.
That contract with B.G. Boone for assisting the defense of county against B.G. Roberts, made a matter of record.
Daniel Stanley allowed 85 cents on poor farm account.
D.P. Morgan, allowed 85 cents on poor farm account.
John P. Love allowed $1.50 as Judge of probate settlement on fines of collector approved and ordered to pay $33.40 to school fund.
J.S. Smith allowed $22. for tax receipts furnished collector.
K.B. Wonnacott allowed $35, for month's salary.
W.L. Selvidge allowed $1.50 for bar furnished Co. jail.
J.A. Rickman allowed $3, as chairman for two days.
David Denny allowed $3, as chairman for two days.
Jos. K. Rickman allowed $3, as marker for roads.
Daniel B. Kidd, Sen., Daniel B. Kidd, Jr. and C.G. Kidd, allowed each $1.50 per day to help survey lands for county.
J.P. Gordon allowed $19 as Sheriff's fees.
Wm. M. Cox allowed $50, two month's salary as clerk.

Court Proceedings.
Settlement of J.J. Delozier, overseer of District No. 2, Dallas township, approved.

Bond and mortgage of J.J. Looney for loan of $150. from school fund approval, and an order drawn on the treasurer for the amount.

Deed ordered given to Sarah E. Lawton for the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of 16-39-27. Complete payment for same having been made.

Wm. M. Wright was allowed to compromise the tax on lot 6, block 20, and lot 7, block 15, and lot 11 in block 13, and lot 9 in block 16, in the town of Collins for the taxes of the year 1895 for the sum of $15 per lot and the collector given credit on his settlement for same.

The settlement of Wm. H. Tillery, overseer of Collins township, approved.

Settlement of Wm. Hornsinger, overseer on District No. 1, Osceola township, approved.

Minutes of January term was corrected to show that Judge Grimes received warrants for $20 as salary.

Settlement of Miles C. McClellan, overseer of District No. 1, Osceola township, approved.

The bond of J.C. Rowland for a ferry on Sac River at Howard’s Mill from January 24th, 1889, for one year was approved.

The application of A. Winchester for relief from erroneous taxes for the year 1873, denied.

The annual statement of fees of D.P. Morgan, Sr., as county recorder for 1888, amounting to $1,886.25 approved.

Settlement of W.H. Spunks, overseer District No. 4, Butler township, approved.

Settlement of James Holloway as overseer District No. 2, Roscoe township, approved.

The account of M. Burrow and Samuel Lane for keeping Andrew McKibben, a poor person, was rejected.

David Cooper was permitted to compromise the tax for the year 1888 on the east half, north half lot “R” northern boundary of Appleton City from $700 to $50, and the collector given credit on his settlement for the amount.

The application of James B. Owens for a billiard and pool table license in Osceola, was denied.

The mortgage of Franklin Choice to school fund was satisfied, the same having been paid in full.

Settlement of Chas. A. Rinker, overseer District No. 1, Speedwell township, approved.

Settlement of Samuel Coleman, overseer District No. 1, Roscoe township, approved.

David Snyder, H.J. Bunch and Thos. B. Park appointed as a jury to view a road petitioned for by L.M. Dodds, S.M. Gracy, et.al.

The petition of Polk Watson for a license to open a billiard and pool room in Osceola, was continued to Monday, February 11th.

A survey was ordered on the road petitioned for by E.H. French, M.L. Cooper, A. Knight, et.al.

Ordered by the court that all former orders in regard to the sale of school lands, to-wit: The east half of the northwest quarter and the southwest quarter, northeast quarter of section 16 in township 38 of range 26, in St. Clair county, Missouri, to one Thomas J. Parks, be and the same is hereby revoked, for the reason that the said Thos. J. Parks has never complied with the terms of said sale, and has never paid for said land, nor any part of the purchase money for the same. That on account of the failure to comply with the terms of the sale, said sale was erroneously reported to the register of lands at Jefferson City, Missouri, and the clerk is hereby authorized to certify this order to the register of lands for the state of Missouri.

The annual statement of fees collected by Rob’t. T. Evans as circuit clerk for 1888, was approved.

Settlement of Seth H. Fisher, assessor of district No. 2, Doyal township, approved.

Settlement of Isaac Cauthon, overseer of district No. 4, Speedwell township, approved.

Settlement of C.M. Holland, overseer district No. 3, approved.

Settlement of Thos. E. Burnett, overseer district No. 1, Osage township, approved.

Settlement of W.P. Tucker, overseer district No. 1, Dallas township, approved.

Account of Ruth Ann Ray for keeping Lillian Edwards, a poor person, was denied.

The road petitioned for by J.J. Crayne, J.A. Me, A.J. Vincent, et al. was ordered opened whenever damages are paid. The costs amounting to $60, were at once paid by the petitioners.

Annual statement of Thos. D. Hicks, county clerk, of fees collected, approved and clerk ordered to pay to treasurer $262.25.
Settlement of J.W. Barnett, overseer of district No. 2, Osage township, for 1888, approved, and he was ordered to pay the county $1, balance due county on settlement.

A.P. Nowell, John M. Harper, and Jas. F. Johnson were appointed jury to view road petitioned for by G.G. Scott, F.F. Green, A.J. Hines, et al.

Ordered that satisfaction be made on mortgage of W.E. Short to school fund.

Ordered that satisfaction be made on mortgage of Clarissa Shepherd to school fund.

Bond of A.P. Hill as constable of Osage township in sum of $500 approved.

Settlement of I.J. Stufflebeam as overseer Dist. No. 1, Doyal township, was approved.

Bond and mortgage of Joseph J. Delozier for a loan of $500 from school fund was approved and order drawn on treasurer for same.

Notice of Dissolution.
Notice is hereby given that the firm and co-partnership heretofore existing between the undersigned, is this day dissolved by mutual consent; Phillip Hess retiring, and Emanuel Wolf continuing the business for himself. E. Wolf assumes all indebtedness and liabilities of the late firm, and all persons indebted to the late firm will please settle their accounts with E. Wolf.

Notice of Administrator’s Sale.
Notice is hereby given that by virtue of an order of the Probate Court of the county of St. Clair, and state of Missouri, I, Rob’t. B. Gordon, administrator of William Wimer, deceease3d, will on Wednesday, March 27th, 1889, at the courthouse door in the city of Osceola, county of St. Clair, and during the session of the Circuit Court of said county of St. Clair, sell at public auction all the interest of said William Wimer, deceased, in and to the following described real estate, to-wit:
The southwest quarter of the northeast quarter, and the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter, and twenty acres, being the west half of the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of section number twenty-five (25), of township number thirty-seven (37) of range number twenty-five (25), containing in all one hundred acres.

Trustee’s Sale.
Whereas, H.C. Hyatt and Eliza J. Hyatt, his wife, by their certain deed of trust dated the 16th day of May, 1888, and recorded in the recorder’s office of St. Clair county, in Deed Book K, page 184, conveying to the undersigned trustee all their right, title, interest and estate, in and to the following real estate situated in the county of St. Clair, state of Missouri, viz:
The southwest quarter of section five (5), township thirty-seven (37), range twenty-eight (28). Which said conveyance was made in trust to secure the payment of one certain promisory note in said deed described, and whereas said note has become due and remains unpaid, now therefore, in accordance with the provisions of said deed of trust, and at the request of the legal holder of said note, I will proceed to sell the above described real estate at the courthouse door in the city of Osceola, in the county of St. Clair, state aforesaid, to the highest bidder for cash, at public auction, on Saturday, March 9th, 1889, between the hours of nine in the forenoon and five in the afternoon of that day to satisfy said note, together with the cost and expense of executing this trust. Trustee's Sale.
Whereas, H.B. Dukes and Emma P. Dukes, his wife, did by their certain deed of trust dated December First, A.D., 1890, and recorded in the office of the Recorder of Deeds in St. Clair County, Missouri, in Trust Deed Record book "K", page 582, convey to the undersigned, as Trustee, the following described real estate, situate lying and being in the county of St. Clair and State of Missouri, to-wit:
Lots numbered Seven (7) and Eight (8), Block numbered Eleven (11), La Due's addition to the (town) now city of Appleton City, county of St. Clair, and State aforesaid.
Whereas, said deed of trust provided that should default be made in the payment of said note, or the interest thereon when the same became due and payable, or failed to pay taxes for each year when due, the Trustee should at the request of the legal owner and holder of said note, proceed to sell the property above described to satisfy the said note, interest or taxes,
Whereas, Default has been made in the payment of the principal and interest of said note which is now due, past due and unpaid; and taxes remaining due and unpaid; now therefore, at the request of the legal owner and holder of said note and trust deed, and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law will proceed to sell the real estate herein before described at public vendue to the highest and best bidder for cash in hand at the front door of the courthouse, in the city of Osceola, St. Clair County, and State of Missouri, on

Final Settlement Notice-- Notice is hereby given to all creditors and others interested in the estate of Harmon Piepmeier deceased, that I, Phebe Piepmeier, as administrator of said estate, intend to make final settlement thereof at the next term of the Probate Court of St. Clair County, Missouri, to be begun at Osceola on the second Monday in May, 1895. Administrator's Notice-Notice is hereby given that letters of administration upon the estate of Ruth Baker, deceased, have been granted to the undersigned, W.E. Wells, by the probate court of St. Clair County, Missouri, bearing date of April 18th, 1895.
All persons having claims against said estate are required to exhibit them to me for allowance, within one year after the date of said letters, or they may be precluded from any benefit of such estate, and if such claims be not exhibited within two years from the time of the publication of this notice they will be forever barred.
