Flag Raising
Large Crowd in Attendance to Witness Impressive Ceremonies.
As announced in last week’s issue, the presentation and
raising of a flag at the high school took place at 4 o’clock
last Friday afternoon and was witnessed by a large assemblage
of interested spectators as well as the host of school
children. The flag was presented with an appropriate talk by
Mrs. Gillson, State Patriotic Instructor of the W.R.C., and
Prof. Mott responded in an eloquent and earnest address. Prior
to the presentation speech, the school children sang
“America”. As the flag was being raised by Commander T.C.
Brown and Comrade E.B. Smith, the pupils saluted and then
joined in singing “The Star Spangled Banner”.
The program was in charge of Commander Brown. A large audience
witnessed the exercises and the best of order prevailed.
