THE APPLETON CITY ACADEMY
Condensed history from Appleton City Centennial Book 1870-1970
The Appleton City Academy was established in the year 1888. G.
A. and Louis Theilman were successful teachers who builta
private school in Appleton City. When it opened 47 students
were enrolled. Attendance increased until at the end of the
first yearr the north wing of the old frame building had to be
enlarged to twice its capacity.
The second year it
was necessary to build an addition on the east side of the
main building.
After the third
year a separate building for drill hall and verious school
purposes was built.
In 1908-1909 a new brick building with a basement and two
stories was erected. The academy was closed in 1914.
