GRANDSTAFF had started from home on the TRANT farm, at about 8 o'clock, and was walking along the highway, and a car driven by W. E. ELLIS, traveling in the same direction, struck him, GRANDSTAFF's body was hurled to the pavement. GRANDSTAFF continued walking and in an instant before the car reached him GRANDSTAFF turned his head to look at the car and at the same time apparently stepped in front of it. There were no witnesses. The body was taken to KUHL's store and Sheriff AULL notified. Upon arriving here the coroner was called. He found that the accident was unavoidable and Ellis exonerated. GRANDSTAFF 's neck and both legs were broken. The remains were taken to PEEBLERS undertaking parlor in Topeka.
