Rudy Foree was born in Edgar Springs, Missouri in 1914. His parents names were
Francis Marion Foree (originally spelled Fore) & Lurissa Adelade Barrow. They later
moved to St. Louis County, Missouri. It is said that Laurissa was always a happy
outgoing person. It would be interesting if Lurissa turned out to be related to Clyde
Barrow of Bonnie & Clyde fame. The Foree family did raise a relative by the name of
Clyde Barrow but it is not known if he was THE Clyde Barrow. I was told that other
relatives wondered the same thing & when they would ask Lurissa if the Clyde that she
raised was the gangster she would never answer them but would just start crying.
Lurissa died in 1973 when she choked on a piece of apple. It took the ambulance 45
minutes to get to the house then she was conveyed to County Hospital where she was
pronounced.

The Foree family rented the Kaes house in St. Louis County from approx. 1947 to 1980.
When you go in the front door of the house the first room on the right was Rudy's
room (this was after his parents were gone.) To the left was the kitchen. His brother
Ralph lived there too. Ralph had a wooden leg. He cut his foot while swimming in the
river, it got infected & his leg had to be amputated. Ralph had his room upstairs &
would take his wooden leg off at night to sleep. Rudy took the room downstairs in
case anyone ever broke into the house he would be better able to fend off intruders.
Off & on over the years other Foree relatives lived in the house too.

Rudy worked for many years for General Motors without missing a day of work. Even
when the tractor turned over on him & crushed his foot he still didn’t miss any work.

Civil War
Rudy's gr.grandfather Fore/Foree was a Confederate Soldier who was captured &
imprisoned at Alton Illinois. He & a friend managed to escape by floating across the
Mississippi River at night on a board or a log.

state his age as 85. Believe this is probably in error. Probably should be 38.

1930 St. Louis County census the Foree family was living in Meramec Township.Francis

1900 Census - Dent County - Missouri - Watkins Township
Robert F. Barrow born September 1859, age 40 birthplace Mississippi, birthplace of
father Alabama, birthplace of mother S. Carolina.
Elzana - wife - (age 37) born September 1862, birthplace Missouri
Ferdnand born June 1883
?Gender? E. born August 1884, age 16
?Thomas? age 10
James W. born 1891
Lourissa born March 1894
Gilbert born Jan 1897.
It gives the number of years that Robert & Elzana were married as 12 ~ this would put
their marriage year at 1888. So the first two children must have been by Robert & a
previous wife. For Elzana it states that she is the mother of seven children four of
whom are living. The possibility of a connection to the gangster Clyde Barrow is
looking more promising since gangster Clyde's parents were both born in Alabama as
was Rudy's gr. grandfather.
