Tims & Stine ( former Latimer building )

  • Tims & Stine ( former Latimer building )
    Marston, New Madrid Co., MO
In the early 1920s C. W. "Pop" Tims and his son-in-law, George Stine, formed a business partnership and bought the Latimer store shown in the top photograph. Tims & Stine added the addition to the left side of the former Latimer building as shown in the bottom photograph. A restaurant, operated by Jake Tims and his wife Dolly and a millinery shop operated by Dolly Tims were housed in the addition as well as the US Post Office. At the far left, if one looks closely, one can see the American flag flying above the Post Office. Tims & Stine did well until the late 1920's and folded from the economic pressures of the Great Depression. The occasion for all the people shown in the bottom photo is unknown.
