Coffin / Coffen,  FNU -- Grenville 15

Grenville 15

The first colony which has been called a military colony due to no women or children being involved, needed supplies so Grenville, who was in charge; returned to England for supplies. While he was gone, Drake stopped in the area of Roanoke Island and he offered the military colonists supplies and a ship, but before the supplies could be

unloaded a storm hit and they lost that ship, Drake offered another of his ships, but they asked to be returned to England. Drake complied leaving the fort empty. A few days later, Grenville arrived with supplys for the colony.

Finding no one there Grenville left 15 men at the fort.
