is the Camp's newsletter. (updated every month on or about the 1st) Check it out to see what the Camp is currently doing. The members of the Col. James J. Searcy Camp as well as all members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans are dedicated to honoring the memory of the brave and gallant men and women, who fought for the Southern Cause and to the preservation of Southern History during the 1850s & 60s.
This web site is an attempt to honor those Confederate Soldiers buried in Boone County and to present the Southern History of which they were a part.
The Cemetery portion of the site can be viewed at this time. Much work has been done and when completed, will picture each Confederate grave with appropriate biographical information.
The History portion of the site has yet to be finished. This section will attempt to address areas distorted by the victor's shameless historical distortions via the grease of political correctness.
The words of Winston Churchill: "History is written by the victors.", is especially relevant. With that said, we may conclude that there is another part of this history that is not written. So it is with the War Between the States.
Years pass and far too often, historians, while writing their volumes, superimpose their own standards, morals, and biases on their work. In today's world, they do not stop there. They feel free to re-write, edit and revise any parts not fitting into their warped world of political correctness. In so doing, creditability is lost and their writing revealed as the rubbish it is. We can only hope that political correctness will give way to truth in the future. The question is will the uncorrupted history of the South survive?
If you like what you see, and have an appropriate Web Site we would appreciate you giving us a Link.
You are welcome to copy any of the photos on this Web Site. If pictures are used on the Web we would appreciate your linking us to the site.
Your help is needed in making this web site all it can be. If you find information that is incorrect, thought to be incorrect, or if you have additional information, please contact me. Also I would like to have copies of any old photos of Veterans listed on the index. Information you believe would be of interest is of interest to me.
