MARRIED 50 YEARS - MR. & MRS. THOMAS HENRY KING

THE KANSAS CITY STAR, February 13, 1915

WED 50 YEARS THIS WEEK: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Henry King celebrated their Golden Anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Henry King of Mount Washington feel that time has been kindly to them. This week they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and 5 of their 6 children have lived to help make the event a success either by their presence or by their greetings.

They were married in Urbana, IL., February 8, 1865, and lived at Covington, IN., until 1887. It was at Covington that their six children were born. From Covington they moved to Kansas City and with the exception of a few years spent in Oklahoma they have resided here since.

Mr. King is 77 years old and Mrs. King 73. They have 14 grandchildren and these children: Mrs. Charles Hallett of Denver, Mrs. W. C. Hildreth of Los Angeles, Mrs. W. H. Taylor and Mrs. Charles Miller of Mount Washington and the Rev. DuBois King of Blackwell, OK

Ed's note: When this was written in 1915, Mount Washington, located between Kansas City and Independence, was a separate town. This article is accompanied by a black and white drawing of the couple, seated, apparently, in front of their house. She is holding something which may be a dog or cat - the drawing is in stark black and white, and it is difficult to tell what the object is. The couple looks VERY old.
