Henry County was first formed in 1834 as Rives County from Lillard County, now Lafayette County. It was renamed Henry County in 1841 for the revolutionary patriot, Patrick Henry. The county seat is Clinton.
There have been two courthouses in Henry County. The first was dated from 1837 when it was Rives County. It was condemned in 1884 as unsafe and was torn down in 1887. The second was built in 1892.

MO American History and Genealogy Project
My name is Lainee Jones and I am the county coordinator and your hostess for the Henry County, Missouri AHGP (American History and Genealogy Project). These pages are only as good as you would like them to be. If you have any items of interest that you would like to share that would benefit others then by all means send them on. All contributions gratefully accepted and all contributors will be recognized. I do *NOT* live in Henry County and do not have the resources myself to do lookups. I hope you enjoy your visit in these pages.
