Funeral services for Allen Amelia Galbraith, one year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Galbraith, who died yesterday morning at the home on Route 2, will be held at 2
o'clock this afternoon at the home, with interment in Galbraith cemetery under direction of Klingner Undertaking company.

DOSS GALBRAITH DIES.
Doss Galbraith, aged 41 died at 6:40 o'clock yesterday afternoon following three weeks' illness from dropsy. Galbraith was a blacksmith and he was well known to a certain element of the city's inhabitants. He lived at 434 Paton alley. He is survived by besides the widow, Mrs. Flora Galbraith, by two sons Vol and Virgil both of whom are residents of this city. The funeral was held this afternoon at the residence, followed by interment in the Galbraith cemetery, 8 miles east of the city on the Rock Bridge road. Monroe Roberts conducted the services.

Funeral services for Miss Nettie Gallbraith, 43 years old, who died Wednesday night at the home of her father, J.V. Galbraith, rural route No. 2, were held at 1:30 yesterday afternoon at the home. Burial was in the family cemetery six miles east of here, under the direction of Klinger Undertaking company.

Mount Comfort Church Cemetery of Springfield MO
Susan M. Ragan, daughter of Darby and Easter Ragan was born in Blint
County, Tenn, on May 9th, 1849, and departed this life on Aug. 8th 1930, at the
home of her daughter, Matilda A. Noble, New Hampton, Mo. Age 81 years, 2
months, 0 days.
She came with her parents to Harrison County, Mo. In1851 where she
spent the greater part of her life.
She was united in marriage to George W. Smith in the year 1868. To
this union 12 children were born. Four of whom preceded her in death. Namely,
Nancy A Smith, Andrew T Smith, Lieuticia O Crabtree and Alva C Smith. Those
living are left to mourn for her are W. L. Smith, and Elbert C. Smith, both of
Wichita, Kan,; Sarah E. Townsend of St. Louis, IH (or ILL); James Manford Smith
of Huntingston, West Va.; Della S Graves and Letha A Ritterback, both of
Springfield, Mo.; Dee (Darby) V Smith of Crane, Mo. and Matilda A Noble of New
Hampton, Mo..
Besides the eight living children she leaves to mourn her departure,
38 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, one aged
sister, Mrs. Litntrict ? (Lutitia) Stanton of Martinsville, Nephew Spencer and
a host of other relatives and friends.
The husband and father passed away at Springfield Mo. on December 31,
1909, at the age of 88 years, 2 month, 1 day.
Grandma professed faith in Christ at the age of 14 years and joined
the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and lived strong in faith until her death.
She had a lovable disposition; had a smile for everyone and always made the
best of everything. She will be greatly missed by her sister, children and
other relatives and friends, but our loss is heavens gain.
Short services were held by Rev. Tharold Northup of Martinsville, MO. At the
Floyd Noble home next to the will o Row church on Aug 9, 12:16; and the body
was taken to Springfield, Mo. The funeral was preached at the Mount Comfort
Church and she was laid to rest beside her husband in the cemetery near by.

R. F. Crocker, age 65, a farmer who lived near Walnut Grove, died of
paralysis Saturday morning, January 4. Mr. Crocker was highly esteemed
as a Christian man.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. M. P. Crocker: three sons and two
daughters, three brothers and one sister. They are: Elder M.A. Crocker
and R. W. Crocker, Springfield: Elder J.H. Crocker, Williamsville: Mrs.

Death of M. H. Mack
It is with profound sorrow that the EXPRESS chronicles the death of Mr. M. H. Mack, who has been a citizen of this city and county the past 40 years. He died of pneumonia a few
minutes after three o'clock last Saturday afternoon at his home in the southwest part of the city, aged 57 years. Deceased was a native of Tennessee and leaves a wife and four daughters and
four sons, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. His remains were interred Monday afternoon in Hazelwood cemetery.

Pioneer Woman Resident Dies at Age of 74
Mrs. Lucy A. Mack, widow of the late M.H. Mack, died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter H.
Hunt. The deceased was 74 years old and was one of the early settlers of Greene county, coming here in 1853 from Richmond, Va.
She is survived by six children-A.O. Mack, Mrs. W. H. Hunt, C. B. Mack, C. E. Mack of Springfield; Mrs. J. E. Wright of McPherson, Kan. And C. A. Mack of St. Louis, besides twenty-four
grandchildren and four great grand children.
She is also survived by four brothers and one sister-Julian Harndon, James Herndon and Joesph Herndon of Nixa, Mo., J. D. Herndon of Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Jane Edwards of Sherman, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Walter H. Hunt on the corner of the Bolivar road and Talmage street at 2:30 this afternoon, with interment at Hazelwood cemetery. Friends and
acquaintances are invited.

Funeral services for Clyde B. Mack, 55-year old groceryman who died Friday evening, will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Tabernacle Presbyterian church, corner of Cherry street and
South Boulevard.
The Reverend, John T. Crockett, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery, under the direction of the Alma Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Services at
the grave will be conducted by United Lodge No.5, A. F. and A. M.
Mr. Mack had been a member of Tabernacle Presbyterian church for several years and was a deacon in that church. He also was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Funeral services for Clyde Mack, 55 years old, well-known grocer, who died Friday at 6:10 p.m. at St. John's Hospital, will be held at 2:30 today. Services will be conducted at the Tabernacle
Presbyterian church, with Rev. John Crockett officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery under the direction of the Alma Lohmeyer Funeral home. Services at the grave will be under
the auspices of United Lodge No. 5, A. F. & A. M.
Mr. Mack was fatally wounded last Saturday night when a highwayman accosted him and his son, Ivan, directly in front of their home at 1324 Boonville avenue. The bandit shot Mr. Mack
through the neck and fled.
The decedent had been a resident of this county all his life. For the past 15 years he had been in the grocery business.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Flo Mack, and one son, Ivan Mack, both of the home address; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Hunt of Springfield and Mrs. J. E. Wright of Eagle Rock, Calif.;
three brothers, A. O., Claude, and C. A. Mack, all of Springfield, and by several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Frank Nichols, Misses Lucy and Margaret Payne, I. N. Mack and Sidney Payne, all
of Springfield.

J. A. Mack, Pioneer Resident, Is Dead
Came to Greene County in Early Fifties and Became Prominent Here
Was Veteran of War
J. A. Mack, pioneer resident of Greene county, died last night following a stroke of paralysis which came early Wednesday morning, while visiting at the home of his brother-in-law, George W.
Campbell, secretary of the Greene County Farm Bureau, four miles south of the city. Mr. Mack never regained consciousness. He was 70 years old.
The deceased, who had lived the greater part of his life in Greene county, went to the Campbell farm the first of the week. He had been in ill health for several months and journeyed to the
country in the hope that the purer air would benefit his condition.
The stroke came on Mr. Mack as he was sleeping at 2 o'clock Wednesday morning. His wife first noticed his condition and when efforts to revive him were of no avail, she summoned Mrs.
Campbell, who is a sister of the deceased. Physicians were called but his condition became steadily worse until it was so critical that it was deemed best not to move him from the Campbell
farm, where he succumbed last night. He lived with his wife at 334 South Grant street.
Mr. Mack is survived, besides his widow, by two children. They are Miss Daisy Mack, who lived with her parents, and John R. Mack of Guy Street.
Mr. Mack came to this part of the country in the late fifties with his parents. They came to Missouri from Tennessee. The deceased served four years in the Civil War wand was a soldier
in the Sixth Missouri Volunteer regiment. He was a member of the G.A.R. which will probably attend the funeral in a body. Interment will probably be in the National Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but it probably will be held Saturday.

William L. Mack, commonly called Sunday Mack, died suddenly about 5 o'clock at his home in Maple Park
cemetery of heart failure. He had been downtown in the forenoon and visited one of his daughters in the afternoon. On returning home he expressed himself as feeling better than he had
for a few days and sat down in his rocker and expired in a very few minutes.
The deceased had lived in the county 53 years, having moved here in 1852 with his father, Mr. John A. Mack, from Maury county, Tennessee, where he was born in 1832, being over 72 years
old at the time of his death. His father settled five miles south of the city on the Campbell street road on a farm, where young Mack farmed until about 1856, when he was married to Miss
Araminta Dew, who with two sons, Rowan and Edward, and three daughters, Mrs. Robert Pate, Missess Lillie and Ona Mack, survive him. After his marriage he engaged in farming until the outbreak
of the civil war, when he served three months in the Union home guards under his father, Capt.John A.Mack and Capt. Piper, and then enlisted in the 6th Mo cavalry, but was soon discharged for
disability. He served as deputy sheriff and clerk of the probate court of this county for several years. He was a good citizen and faithful, honest and conscientious officer and was
loved and highly esteemed by all who knew him.
Interment at Hazelwood cemetery. Funeral services will be held at his home at 3 o'clock this afternoon.

Bailey Eli Crocker, 91, lifelong resident of Greene County, died
suddenly at 10:30 o'clock last night of an apparent heart attack at the
home of a daughter, Mrs. Frank Ream, 2033 North Rogers.
Mr. Crocker had spent most of his life on the farm at New Hope,
settlement north of Springfield, where he was born. He was a member of
High Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Loren Mapes of 1925 St. Louis,
one son, Oliver Crocker of Fair Grove: three grandchildren and five
great grandchildren.
Services will be under direction of Klingner."

William McCroskey

Farmer Is Killed By Horse's Hoffs
William McCroskey, aged about 63 years, a prominent farmer of Wilson township, who lived seven or eight miles south of Springfield, near the James river, was kicked by a horse and killed at his
home this morning. The decedent is survived by a widow, five daughters and three sons. His brother, A. W. McCroskey, a real estate agent, lives at 832 South Grant Street. Funeral
services have not been announced.
Mr. McCroskey, in company with a hired hand, was plowing up potatoes wen a mare which was hitched to the plow balked. Mr. McCroskey approached the mare from the rear, intending to get the
animal by the bridle. He was kicked in the chest, a rib over the heart being fractured. He fell unconscious and never spoke. The accident occurred at 7:30 this morning.
Mr. McCroskey had lived in Greene county for over 50 years and was killed on the farm owned by his father. It is located six miles south on the Campbell street road. He was born in
Virginia and was a federal soldier during the civil war. He leaves two brothers, one being M. C. McCroskey who lives four miles southwest of Springfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Patterson cemetery, nine miles southwest of the city, at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

Mrs. McCroskey had been a resident of this county for the past 60 years.
She is survived by four sons, Walter and C. E. McCroskey of route 2; O. L. Mccroskey of Wenathea, Wash., and D. A. McCroskey of Wellington, Kans.; and by seven daughters, Mrs. A. L. Cooper, Purdy,
Mo.; Mrs. Claud E. Mack, of this city; Mrs. John Glenn, route 2; Mrs. E. A. LeRoy of Michigan; Mrs. H. E. Meek, route 3, Mrs. W. E. Kershner of route 9 and Mrs. F. D. Fulbright of this city.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Patterson cemetery, with interment under direction of Paxson Undertaking company.

Lester Grant Crocker, 72-year-old retired carpenter and life-time
resident of Greene county, who died at 6:45 o'clock yesterday morning,
had been in failing health for several years but only a few weeks ago
was taken seriously ill. Mr. Crocker was a member of the Boulevard
Baptist church for 30 years.
Survivors include two brothers, B.E. of Coffeyville, Kan., and W. Thomas
of Springfield.
Funeral services will be in the Klingner chapel at 1 o'clock tomorrow
afternoon with the Rev. Mufft, pastor of the Boulevard, Baptist church,

in a nursing home at 216 East Walnut Lawn following a long illness.
Mrs. Crocker was the widow of the Rev. James H. Crocker, a Baptist
minister in southwest Missouri for more than 50 years. She was a member
of Glendale Baptist Church.
She is surived by two sons, James L., 919 East University, and L. H.
(Lee), of 1503 Sieger, a brother, Albert L. Foster, Tulsa; and eight
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednsday in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel with

"M. G. CROCKER DIES
M.G. Crocker, 62 years old, died suddenly at his home, 1331 East
Atlantic street about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Crocker, who
had returned home from work a short time before his death, had gone to
the rear of the lot to feed the poultry. His body was found in the hen
house by members of the family.
The man had not been ill, members of the family stated and Coroner Ely
Paxson was summoned. After viewing the body of the man, Coroner Paxson
stated that he died of heart disease. He is survived by the widow, one
son Otis Crocker of St. Louis, four brothers, Andy Crocker amd Tom of
Cherokee, Okla. Robert Crocker of Bolivar, Mo., and John Crocker of
Meet Center, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Willer of Springfield.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from relatives but
interment will be under the direction of the Klingner Undertaking company."

"JAMES L. "LEE" CROCKER
Lee passed away peacefully in his sleep October 18, 2001.
He was born in Rogersville, Mo., on December 22, 1927, to Rev. James H.
Crocker and wife Nellie (Foster) Crocker. He has lived in Missouri all
his life, except for two years spent in the Unided States Air Corps
stationed in Guam at the end of World War II, and in southwest Missouri
except for two years while working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
in Kansas city. He retired from Bell after 34 years of service.
He attended grade school and High school in Carthage and spent the last
33 years of his life in Springfield. After retirement, Lee worked a
short time for the Greene County Court and the Sheriff's Department.
He was married to Donna Phenninger in 1947, and to that union six
children were born.
Survivors inlcude his wife of 54 years; daughters Mary Shewmake and
husband Rick of Overland Park, Kan., Susie Hess and husband Jim of
Carthage, and Nancy Durk and husband Ray of Camdenton; adn sons Jim
Crocker and Wife Jeanie of Carthage, David Crocker and wife Debbie of
Joplin, and Dan Crocker and wife Michaelle of Platt City, Mo. Also
surviving are 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law,
Joy Crocker and her family.
His family preceded him death. Also preceding him are a brother, Leon
H. Crocker, and a baby sister, Martha. Lee was a member of the
Chapel Bible Class; First Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001, in
Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield with T.T. Crabtree and Guy
Lawyer officiating. Inturnment will be in the new State Veterans
Cemetery in Springfield, with visitation following.

Leon Harvey "Lee" Crocker, Springfild, Mo., departed this life Tuesday,
May 16, 2000, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, at the age of 78
years.
Lee was born July 17, 1921, in Fort Worth, Texas to the Rev. james H.
and Nellie Crocker. He married Joy Bragg Sept. 17, 1956, in Carthage,
Mo. Lee started his career with Trans World Airlines, working several
years as a mechanic. He spent 16 years in the radio business as a
broadcast announcer and manager for KDMO radio station in Carthage, Mo.,
from 1947 to1962. His opeing statement ws made when KDMO first came on
the air. People will always remember him for his early morning
broadcast, "Breakfast at the Crossroads," which aired for nearly 10
years. He then went into the career of prearranged funeral sales,
retiring in 1966.
His sense of humor ws know and loved by all who knew him. Lee ALWAYS
had a favorite joke to tell and he never met a stranger. His greatest
quality was always making people feel at ease. His love for working
outdoors and doing projects arougn the house kept him occupied. He was
also an avid golfer.
Lee was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was also a
caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and deeply
missed, but the wonderful memories he created for his family and friends
will live on forever.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Martha Crocker.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of 44 years; a son, Craig, Springfield;
a daughter, Lynette, St. Louis; a brother, Leroy Crocker, Springfield;
two grandchildren, James and April Walker, St Louis, a host of nieces
and nephews and other relatives: a dear friend, Lee Pitts: and his
loving German Shepherds, Heidi and Gretchen.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today, May 19, 2000, in Ayre-Goodwin-Lee
Funeral Chapel at Rivermonte with the Rev. Tom McClain officiating under
the direction of Greenfleid Funeral Chapel, Greenfleid. Entombment
will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.

Paralytic Stroke is Fatal to Pioneer Springfieldian. John C. DAVIDSON, aged 79, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will YOUNG, Evans and Phillips streets, at 8 o'clock last night following a stroke of paralysis he suffered yesterday. The decedent is survived by five children, all of whom reside in Springfield. Mr. Davidson was a pioneer resident of Springfield, having come here many years from Cassville. Arrangements have not yet been made.
Body of John C. DAVIDSON a pioneer resident of Springfield who died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will YOUNG, 804 South Evans streeet, following a stroke of paralysis, was
held at the Young home at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon under the direction of the Bentz Undertaking company. The service was conduced by the Rev. A.J. Markley, interment was in Hazelwood cemetary.

Note: Sarah Sweeney was my Grand Aunt. She was a sister
to my Grandfather, Anthony Bernard Sweeney.
Sarah is buried in an unmarked grave at St. Mary's. Her
age is estimated on her death certificate.
