- West Prairie Settled around 1844 and had a post office 1854-1877.
The Malden Post Office took its place around 1877-1878. Named for the large prairie on which it set which was west of the other prairies in this section. Some resources have it located about 4 miles SW of Malden and others show it being just north. One of its most important features was the grist mill, known as West Prairie Mill.
