The original mill, much larger than the above structure, was known as Lyons Mill before the Civil War. The mill was powered by a spring that emptied into Beaver Creek in western Douglas County. Jackson's mill was a favorite picnic and gathering place for decades leading up to through the 1950s. The structure no longer exists. |
The above photo was contributed to the site by Melba Medlock Bolinger. According to Melba, the man on the mule is her Uncle Alfred Medlock, and the mule was named either Beck or Kate (the family had two). |
