This plot is located near Samples Creek, the present Lawrence Rogers farm. The home is in Phelps County; the burial ground in Dent County.
There are several unmarked graves including other members of the Samples family. This farm was later owned by Coon Black.

CROW, MARY E. COPPEDGE Born Nov. 29, 1842 - ______. Daughter of Henson C. Coppedge (1808 Nelson Co KY) and Nancy Kitchen (1808 Washington Co KY). Children: Augusta E. (b. Mar. 19, 1873, m. William David Kitchen, buried at Kitchen Cemetery); Richard Y., (b. Jan. 15, 1863 in Illinois, buried Black Cemetery); Robert Walter 'Bob' (b. Sep. 22, 1886, m. Maude M. Stites, buried at Enke Cemetery) and Arnetta M. Crow Moreland, b. 1877.

NEVINS, DANIEL JEWEL Jul. 12, 1923 - Nov. 1, 2012. Obituary: Daniel Jewel Nevins, 89 of Rolla, MO, beloved husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on November 1, 2012. Daniel was born on July 12, 1923 in Fort Worth, Texas to John Thomas and Mattie Belle Nevins. Upon his return from service during WWII he married his beloved childhood sweetheart Mary Dean Fincher. Dan was an avid golfer and worked as assistant professional at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas and played with Ben Hogan when he was the pro for the club. Enlisting in the Army Air Corp during WWII in 1943, Dan served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations with the 330th Bomber Group as a mess sergeant receiving the Victor Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star awarded to the Bomber Group for the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Upon the end of the war Dan enlisted in the newly formed Air Force in 1946 rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and Fire Chief for the Strategic Air Command at the time of his retirement in 1996. During his carrier Dan received several awards of honor including the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service from December 3, 1956 to June 3, 1969, and The Airmen's Medal for heroism at Royal Air Force Station, Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, England on May 26, 1964. Dan was a warm, kind, generous, loving and wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all that knew and love him. He and his beloved wife Mary loved to travel and play golf. Dan was an ardent supporter of the Democratic Party and loved to engage people in discussions regarding the state of the nation. Dan was renowned for his cooking and known far and wide for his banana fritters. He was an avid woodworker and love making projects for family and friends. Dan is survived by his Daughter, Joan Sample and son-in-law James Sample of Salem, MO, Son David A. Nevins and daughter-in-law Catherine A. Nevins of Roseville, California and his sister-in-law Joan Clark of Hurst, Tex\as. He is also survived by his granddaughter Jill Denny, her husband Mike and his great grandchild Madalen of Joplin, MO; grandson Staff Sergeant James Ellis Sample, his wife Tua and his great grandchild Jalyn currently stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona, He is also survived by his grandchild Danielle Gerhardt, her husband Andy and his great grandchild Mason of Sacramento, California and his grandchild Kenneth Collins of New York, New York. Nine beloved nieces and nephews including: John Clark and his wife Cindy; Nancy Terrell; Henry Clark and his wife Sandy; Beth Melugin and her husband Merl; Greg Clark; Bonnie Clark; Larry Norris; Marilyn Nevins and John Robert Nevins. He is also survived by many loving cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Mattie Belle Nevins and his beloved wife, Mary of 63 years. The family would like to give special thanks to Dottie Craft of St. James, Shirley Lewis of Rolla and the employees of Phelps County Regional Medical Center for the extraordinary care given to Dan. Services: Visitation will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 from 6:00 PM - 8-00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Jones Funeral Home with Darren Myers of Landmark Baptist Church of Rolla, MO. Internment will be held at the Sample-Nevins Cemetery at the Sample Farm outside of Salem MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tri-County Humane Society, 745 E. Springfield, St. James, MO 65559 (573-265-7955) and/or the VFW Post-5608, 18775 St. Rt. KK, St. James, MO 65559, in the name of Daniel Jewel Nevins. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

ROSEBERRY, THOMAS, JR. Nov. 5, 1792 - Dec. 22, 1872. Age 80 yrs. 27 dys. Born in Caroline City, Virginia, the son of Thomas Roseberry, Sr. (b. Oct. 31, 1752 in Belfast, Ulster Province, Ireland - County Down North), and Katherine Earhart (b. Aug. 8, 1778 in probably Lancaster area of Pennsylvania). He was a War of 1812 veteran. Married Jane 'Jennie' Neal (b. 1792 in Mercer Co KY) in Apr., 1812 in Jefferson Co IN. Children: Jesse Neal (b. Mar. 31, 1819 in IN, m. Sarah Ann Roberts, both buried Roseberry Cemetery); Priscilla, b. abt. 1827; John, b. abt. 1814 in IN; Mary, b. May 31, 1817 in IN; Harvey, b. Mar. 29, 1821 in IN; Rebecca, b. Apr. 15, 1823 in IN and Thomas Jefferson Roseberry b. abt. 1831 in Kentucky . He was a brother of Samuel (b. ca. 1817). Thomas moved from Hamilton Co OH to Jefferson Co IN in 1811, then to Trimbel Co KY & then to Edgar Springs MO vicinity.

SAMPLES, JOHN Jan. 31, 1816 - Jun. 3, 1873. Son of Samuel Samples (b. 1792 in Kentucky) and Rachel Dennison, (b. abt. 1790 in Virginia). Born in Kentucky. 'Co B 10 Mo. Cav., Union Army, Civil War.' He was shot & killed by bushwhackers. He was the forerunner of Samples the family in this area.
SAMPLES, LURANA 'LURENY' PERKINS REED Apr. 23, 1819 - Jul. 1, 1872. Born in Kentucky. From Findagrave: Much information is contradictory concerning her maiden name. Her son, Gregory says her maiden name was Reed, but another source says Perkins. Children of John & Lurana: Samuel (b. Aug. 5, 1837 in Munfordsville, Hart Co KY); Rachael (b.
