CHANDLER, CHAPMAN posted by Donna Kennedy on Thursday, December 3, 1998

Need information on the Chandlers and Chapmans from this area. Luther CHAPMAN owned land here (Daviess) in the 1850's. His son Calvin moved back in the 1900's. My Mary Margaret Chapman married Jas CHANDLER in Crawford County, MO 12-22-1859. The Chandlers have a cemetery close by in the Mark Twain Forest. Does anyone know about this? Red Bluff! It was dark when I got there so I didn't get to go in. It was in Daviess.

BENNETT posted by Richard Bennett on Saturday, December 5, 1998

I am trying to locate BENNETT family members that moved in the mid-1800's from Hart County, KY to either Daviess or Caldwell County. I have a couple of references that indicate Sarah (Sallie or Sally) McCubbin Bennett moved to Caldwelll County with some of her childred after her husband, William Bennett, drown in Hart County, KY in approx. 1832. One source indicates Sarah moved with all of her children except John (my great grandfather) to Caldwell County in apporx. 1842. This is the John Bennett that had 3 wives and 25 children. I have all the information on these children, etc. My sister-in-law still owns the farm we understand John homesteaded in the 1800's. This source indicates Sarah died Nov. 30, 1885 at age 94 in Daviess County. A McCubbin History prepared by Gleason McCubbin on Kentucky also discusses Sarah moving to Caldwell County.
