Oak Ridge was a rural grade school, located north of the old town of Pattonsburg. The teacher shown here is James Oliver Dickerson (1879-1964) who taught in several area schools. He was the father of Ernest Dickerson who was the rural mail carrier in this area for many years. James reportedly did most of his traveling on foot.
