Dade County was organized January 29, 1841, from Barry and Polk counties and named for Francis L. Dade, pioneer settler.

  The county seat is Greenfield, MO 65661
According to the 2000 census, Dade County has 7,923 residents.

The Courthouse burned October 6, 1863
