John Waters dies at age 82
John C. Waters, 82, of 108 Fulkerson St. died Monday at a Jefferson City
Hospital. Mr. Waters suffered a stroke March 1, and had been hospitalized since.
A native of the Vandalia area in Ralls County, Mr. Waters was born June 14,
1890, the son of Stephen Albert and Fanni J. Keithley Waters. Mr. Waters
attended elementary and high school at Vandalia. He then attended a business
collage at Quincy, Ill., where he specialized in banking and business. For a
number of years he was employed by the Commerce Trust Co., Kansas City. He then
returned to Vandalia where he was employed by the Exchange Bank. In 1923 he came
to Jefferson City for employment with the Missouri Highway Department. Until his
retirement in 1959, he served as supervisor of business machine equipment. Mr.
Waters was a member of the First Methodist Church. On Oct. 28, 1917, at
Hannibal, he was married to the former Miss Hazel A. Taylor, who survives. Other
survivors include; Two sons, Sgt. Jack C. Waters, Rolla, and Gene T. Waters,
Kansas City. Two brothers, Edwin K. Waters, Vandlia, and Nimrod L. Waters,
Jefferson City; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Gore; and six grand-children. Funeral
services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the Houser Chapel with the
Rev. Ross Rulton officating. Burial will be in
Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions to
Community Memorial Hospital of the First Methodist Church have been suggested.
