Enoch Enloe Post Office

The first post office in the community was established by Enoch Enloe on July 26, 1837. Enoch was born in York District, South Carolina and was married to Frances Carpenter. They came to Missouri in 1828. The post office was located on a portion of Enoch's land, close to where the Enloe Cemetery is located. He also operated a grist mill and coach stop at this same location. The post office remained there until March 12, 1846, when it was discontinued. It was re-established in may of that same year, and later became the Russellville Post Office, which is now located at 328 Simpson Street.
