Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Graveyard

Located N. E. corner of S. E. 1/2 of Section 30, Twp. 50, Range 30.
Just off highway No. 10, several miles east of Liberty, Mo.

This church was organized in April, 1853, its constituent members being John G. Price, Jas. Munkirs, Wm. B. Hodges, Jas. T. Withers, Wm. H. Price, Thos. Holders, Daniel H. Sans, Thos. Y. Gill, Geo. H. McNealy, Louisiana Hogen, Sarah E. Withers, Amanda Mosby, Agnes Munkirs, Susan G. Withers, Margaret Guar, America Price, Julia Gill and Martha Withers.

Pastors who served in the early history of the church were: Elders Wm. H. Price, Henry Hill, Wm. T. Brown and Jas. Duvall. The church built of brick at a cost of $1500. was the first brick church to be built in Clay County, out side of Liberty.

Some eight years ago the church was razed, the brick sold to Dr. Crawford of Excelsior Springs, who built a nice home, using the old brick in the construction of a home.
