I am looking for information on Joseph BAKER, Sr.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1806 and married Ann YOUNG in 1831. Ann
lived from July 24, 1814 to Dec. 21, 1893. Joseph BAKER owned
around 400 acres on the west side of Cape Girardeau County. He
purchased this land from Daniel Bollinger in 1827. He and Ann
had five children. Their names were Francis, Columbus, Sarah E.,
Jefferson, and Mary Jane. I have found some evidence that he
came to Cape Girardeau County from North Carolina, however I'm
not certain that this is correct. BAKER died on Jan. 7, 1849.
I'm searching for any info. on Robertson RUSSELL (aka
Roberson RUSSELL, aka Robinson RUSSELL). He disappears from the
Cape Girardeau Co. tax records after 1864. He died May 21, 1864.
His wife's name was Minerva Root RUSSELL. I was able to get copy
of his will (handwritten, but incomplete) @ public library in
Jackson, MO. I would like to know the cause of his death, and
would liek to get copy of his death cert. I discovered tht he is
buried in Apple Creek Church cemetary, one mi. south of
Pocahontas. What happened to his land holdings (854 acres at
time of his death)? I would like to know type of agricultural
and/or livestock operations he had on his land. In the 1864 tax
records, a tan yard is listed. What type of tanning did he do?
Possibly sheep hides? Where were the hides sent? For what
purpose - shoes, other leathergoods? A son, Robert RUSSELL (21
yrs. old when his father died) is reported as having followed
Gen'l Shelby to Texas after the battle of Westport, and then
into Mexico w/Shelby. This was the last ever heard of this son.
Would also be interested in knowing if his widow, Minerva Root
RUSSELL ever remarried - when, to whom?

June 1857. I am interested in learning more about Abraham's
family. Any help is appreciated.
