One of my elusive ancestors may have been living in
Missouri in 1840. His name was William C. Duncan and he was
married to
a woman named Abby. Their daughter, Sarah Jane, was married to
my Henry
A. Block of Cape Girardeau.
My first record of William C. Duncan is in the 1850 census in New
Orleans with his wife and two year old daughter. They are living
in a
home with Cape Girardeau Blocks and Judens who had also moved to
New
Orleans. Do you have any marriage records for a William C.
Duncan
around 1840 or census records? I don't even know what Missouri
county
this William lived in. Don't be confused by a later marriage
entry:
William C. Duncan, Jr. married one of Zalma Block's daughters in
Cape
Girardeau.

I am seeking info on Ira Summers and his brothers:Perien
"Perry", Washington and Marion "Sox".
In particular, I'm trying to discover what happened to the
brothers, who
were their parents and where in TN are they from.
Ira was born in Tennessee 17 Sep 1833. According to his obit,
he came to
Cape Girardeau Co. with his parents around 1840.
The boys were orphaned prior to 1850. Ira was living with Peter
BAKER in
1850. Perry was living with a WELTY family.
(According to 1860 Census, Ira AND Marion are living with the
Baker
famiily).
Both Ira and Perry served the Union during the Civil War. Ira
married
Sophia BAKER in 1859. She died shortly thereafter.
On 2 Mar 1865, Ira married Marie Louise CRIDDLE possibly in
Jackson or
Burfordville.
Marie was the dau. of William Smith CRIDDLE and Elvira Ann
ROBINSON.
They had 12 children between 1866-88.

discovered tht he is buried in Apple Creek Church cemetary, one
mi. south of Pocahontas.
What happened to his land holdings (854 acres at time of his
death)?
I would like to know type of agricultural and/or livestock
operations he had on his land. In the 1864 tax records, a
tan yard is listed. What type of tanning did he do? Possibly
sheep hides? Where were the hides sent? For what purpose -
shoes, other leathergoods?
A son, Robert Russell (21 yrs. old when his father died) is
reported as having followed Gen'l Shelby to Texas after the
battle of Westport, and then into Mexico w/Shelby. This was
the last ever heard of this son.
Would also be interested in knowing if his widow, Minerva Root

I am seeking info on John KENNON (Doctor of Divinity) b. 1802/TN
and his
wife, Fanny ? b. 1805/VA. I cannot locate a marriage for these
two.
However, I do find them in the 1830 census of Grainger Co. TN;
they had
several children in TN then moved to St. Genevieve, MO by 1840.
They had
several more children in MO. John KENNON and Fanny moved to Cape
Giradeau by the 1860 census. Cannot find any trace of Fanny or
John
after 1868. Please advise if you have any info on this family.

Jul 1821 in
Cape Giradeau; and a Harvey Ransom Curtis who first appears of
record in
1839 in St. Louis
