My Great grandfather, Joseph Schott married to mary Anna Ponder lived in Poplar Bluff 1880-1882 where he died and was buried at the age of 44. We have heard he was a blacksmith in Polpar Bluff. He was buried there but we have not been able to determine which cemetary he is buried in as there was not a tombstone place on his grave. The family was catholic. I would like to know how to go about finding cemetary plots without a marker.

I'm, looking for any help with my mom's family. Her name was Venita Scott; her dad & mom were Walter Greer Scott and Effie Mae Scott. They lived in Poplar Bluff in the 1938 time frame. Mom married my dad, Henry Allen Cox there & I was born at Lucy Lee Hospital in Sept 1939. We are also related to the Elmer Banks family that lived in Poplar Bluff up to at least 1950. My dad's father, Alvis Boyed Cox worked for & retired form Cocoa Cola and owned a sporting goods store during the 40's & 50's. Help with any of these would be appreciated.

I'm searching for William B. or W.B. SHIPMAN and his parents.� He was born in Missouri in 1857 or 1858.� I'm posting this message on the Butler County site because I have found numerous SHIPMAN's in Butler County in the 1850 Census records.� He may be related to William SHIPMAN and Sarah ANDERSON.� Thank you for any help with my search.

Searching for the maiden name of my gg
grandmother, Anna (Mrs. Franklin Shipman).  She married Franklin Shipman
around 1830 (+ or - as she was born abt 1808 in TN) All I know is that
her name was Anna.  Franklin Shipman, the groom was born 1806 also in TN.
They were some of the first inhabitants of Butler Co.  She had son Daniel
born there in Butler Co. on Oct 28, 1832 and is reported to be the first
'white' child born in that Co. If you could search any old marriage
records for her maiden name I would be grateful.  I descend from her son
John M. Hillis and his son Charles Franklin Hillis.  Many of my Hillis

I am looking for a Dan Simpson Who was born in Illinois and Died in Southeast Missouri about 1941 at least he died before 1942 which is when I was born this Dan is my paternal grandfather. My fathers name was Leo Simpson and his mother was named Rosie Wells who died about 1918 or 1919He also had a son by a prievous Marriage Named Gus Simpson who also died in Southeast Missouri. HELP!!!! I cannot find Powell SINKS. He and his wife MARY STORY lived in Popular Bluff from the middle 1800's into the 1900's. I know of one son born to them, Peter SINKS, he was born in Illinois. But Powell's Grandson Powell Robert SINKS was born in Popular Bluff. Does the name SINKS or STORY fit in anyone's Tree?? I am searching for any information on the parents of Daniel Smith b. 1845 in Decatur TN. He was a Union soldier in the Tennessee Calvary and he joined in Paducah KY. He married Sarah Hutson/Hudson about 1769 but I have not been able to find out where, though his pension states that they lived in Massac IL before moving to the Harviell area. Sarah may have been the Sarah C. Smith who was a popular midwife in that area in the late 1800s. They had a son James and daughters Amanda and Sarah.

I am seeking information for my great grandfather John Henry SMITH b. March 24, 1871 Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri. He married Frances Ellen HENRY December 25, 1893 in Parker, Kansas. John died March 1, 1944 in Osawatomie, Miami County, Kansas. This is the only information I have on him. I am searching for my husband's cousin Lois Ann Brown whose mother was named Mable and married a Strange after her and Lois Ann's father divorced.
