Butler Co., Neelyville area cemeteries for a BULLIS surname. My wife's g g grandfather was a Joseph or Josephus BULLIS and his wife may have moved to your area late 1800's early 1900's. Burson/Parrish My g-grandfather was Alonzo Burson. His son, Joseph Merton Burson, b. Jan. 28, 1904, Poplar Bluff, Butler Co., said Alonzo was killed in a sawmill accident when Joe was about 12. Unfortunately, Missouri has absolutely no record of Alonzo's death -- and I had them search from 1915 to 1920. Before I try another search, is there anyone who could suggest another way of looking for a death certificate. I strongly suspect Alonzo and family were Methodist. Is there a Methodist cemetery or two in Poplar Bluff? Is there a newspaper that might carry the story of a sawmill accident? I think the Bursons may have been truck farmers, so I don't know if a land search is of any use. Alonzo was born about 1868 in Illinois (census information). He married Phoebe L. Parrish -- I think in Arkansas, but I don't know. Haven't tr cked that down yet, either. Phoebe was born about 1871 in Texas. The couple had five children: Eva, supposedly born about 1896 in Arkansas; Agnes, b. Sept. 1902, Missouri; Joseph; Arnold and Cora. I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
