This photo was likely taken in Barry County before the family left for Spokane. I've based this on the apparent ages of the children. Charlie was born Jan 1897, and we've estimated that Clara was born late 1898, early 1899. In the 1900 census, Clara is not listed but it states that Rosey had given birth to 8 children with 7 living. Rosey had given birth to another daughter in May 1900, so the only child then not on the census was Clara. Sadly, if I hadn't sat down with my gr-grandmother Ola in the early 1960s, this photo would have no names to go with faces nor would we have known about Clara.

The surprise was a photo of Grandpa Solomon with a gentleman who I always thought looked like him. But we had no knowledge of any of his family being in his life once he left Barry County.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to see if I could track Tom Solomon's older brother John A Solomon after he married in Phelps County. To my astonishment, I found him and his family in the 1900 census living in the same precinct in Spokane, Washington about 15 houses from Tom Solomon.

I'll get you data on John A Solomon's family in a couple of weeks. I'm still trying to trace the children in addition to finding where John A & Susan died. From one of the birth certificates of John's children, he was in Spokane as early as 1895, probably before 1888.
