| Research Note | Donna Cooper's Notes: According to her death certificate, Martha Belle Freeland was the widow of Dr. Pleasant L. Freeland and was born near Cassville, MO. It also reads that she was born May 22, 1870 and that she died Nov. 4, 1943 in Monett, in Barry County. She was a daughter of John Hobson who was born in NC, and Mary Troxel who was born in IA. Mrs. Tom Hanlon of Monett, MO, was the informant. Martha Belle Hobson was born May 22, 1870 near Cassville, Mo and departed this life Nov. 4, 1943 at the age of 73 years, 5 mo and 7 days. She was married to John Benton Jones Dec. 24, 1899. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1918. To this union were born 3 children. Paul Jones of Clovis, New Mexico, Mary Anabel Hanlon of Monett, Mo, Francis Jones who died in infancy. She is also survived by 1 brother, 3 sisters and 4 grandchildren. Freeland at Fairview, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1932. She became a member of the Methodist Church of Purcell, Okla while a young girl and lived a consistent Christian life. For the past several years she has been in poor health but bore her suffering with patience and was very active in church and Sunday School as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed her many friends. |
