My name is Sandra Smith-Ramirez. I have been working on my family's history for about 15 years, but have just recently shifted focus to hardcore research on my paternal granmother's line the Browns.

They moved to Barry County sometime in 1830-1840 from Tennessee. John Brown is listed first in 1850 in District 53 in McDonald County, but I highly suspect that he may be the son of a William Brown who is listed in Marin, Newton county, in the 1840 census. From 1860 on they show to be residents of Barry County, Missouri.

John was born around 1828 and fell off the census in 1880. He married twice once to a Rebecca and in 1870 it shows his wife as Julia. I have done extensive research on your website but found no trail of him. I do have to say though, your site helped me gain quite a bit of research on his son James L. Brown (who married Margaret Bettis) and HIS son James Monroe Brown who married Harriet Cox..all of Barry County.

I am related one way or another to not only the Brown Line, but the Cox-Crumley line that came from Georgia and of course the Bettis/Enlow line. :)

Do you have any suggestions or offerings you may direct me to, in order to find more data on John W. Brown? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Hinesville, Georgia, near Savannah, so I am quite a bit aways, however I will be making a trip to the area in December as my father lives in Springfield. (he grew up in Neosho, Missouri) :)

Enclosed is a picture of my great-great grandparents James Monroe Brown and Harriet Cox (she is the daughter of William Anderson Cox and Mary Crumley) that you may use on your website. I am hoping perhaps it may inspire more family members to come forward.

Thank you so much for your time, I have appreciated all you do for Barry County, genealogy!

Sincerely, Sandie
