| The first photo is of John William Williams, born Sept 30, 1860, in Lawrence County, MO. In 1884, he married Arizona Wilson, born July 9, 1869, in Barry County, MO. His family lived at Buck Prairie. Her family lived at Crane Creek. He is the brother of my great-grandfather, James Wiley Williams. She is the sister of my great-grandfather Harlon Wilson.
They had fifteen children during the course of their marriage. They moved from Missouri to Texas and back to Missouri - at least twice before settling in Texas. On the census records his occupation is listed as a farmer. Someone recently sent me this picture and asked if I had heard the story that he invented the screen door. I had never heard the story. The "gadget" in the photo appears to be a door - perhaps a prototype of a door opening device?? The second photo (not good quality) is of John and Arizona - likely their wedding photo. They married in Barry County. |
