15 May 1917, Barry County, MO Martilda Stockton born 2 Dec 1842 at hailey, MO. Martilda, age 75, resident of Jenkins, MO. Jonathan enlisted 3 Aug. 1862 as Private in Co. E, 1st Ark. Cav. They were married Feb. 27, 1862 by Rev. Owen Todd at Jenkins, MO. *** Research Note: The following letter is as exact as I could type it out:
"Flat Creek, Barry Co., MO. Aug. 11, 1884
Commissioner Pensions Washington D.C. Sir, In regard to Pension Claim of Johnathan Eden I have to state that Johnathan Eden was sounded by gunshot in left shoulder while ingaged in battle on Flat Creek near Clarks Mill Barry Co. Mo about August 1st 1861. he was under command of a Capt. Charles Galloway commander of a Mo. Home Guard company. I was present with said Johnathan Eden and saw him receve said wound, and know that he wis in the line of his duty. Respectfuly G. R. King" |
