Research Note: Enlisted with his brother-in-law, John M. McIntire, on August 7, 1862 in Keetsville. Participated in the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Jim Scribner and John McIntire were captured shortly afterwards on January 9, 1863 at Fayetteville, Arkansas. They would be transported to the Union Provost Marshal’s Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri on January 18, 1863. His Company was unaware of his capture by Federal forces so they listed him in their records as a deserter. Jim and his wife, Kesiah (McIntire), moved to Lawrence County, Arkansas where they appear in the 1880 Census.
