| Research Note for the photo of the 1901 Victor school: The mother of Annie and Ivy Smith is listed as Sarah Towler. Her name was Sarah Fowler. She was the daughter of John and Nancy Fowler living in White River Twp Barry County on the 1870 census. The family was living in Wapello Co., IA during the 1860 census. Hope this helps. Linda Tracy Bennett
Darla Marbut's Note: I found after further study that Oliver Skelton's parents were NOT William and Sarah Shaffer Skelton's son... That Oliver Skelton wasn't born until Nov of 1898...he is too young to fit the photo. When I got the Henry Clay Skelton family together there was William "Oliver" Skelton and he is the correct age plus his brothers and sisters are in the photo. The children of Henry Clay Skelton and his wife Mary Ladona Kelley that are in the photo are: Joseph Calvin "Joe" Skelton, Maggie Matilda Skelton, William "Oliver" (middle name) Skelton, Bud Skelton (older boy in back) is probably Christopher James Skelton. He is may be named for his grandfather, Dr., and Rev., Christopher Greenup Kelley. I took the spelling from the ID on the photo and Cassidy was used instead of correct spelling Cassity. I researched the Cassity's later and found it was spelled Cassity. Mick and Barbra Cassity's children in photo are: Elzie Henry Cassity, Jesse Cassity, Grace Cassity From Census Record 1900 RR Twn: Bill Murphy's parents were Sylvanous and Margaret Murphy. Elisha Towler and Nancy Towler were the parents of Sarah "Pearlee" spelled Parolle Towler in photo. Ida Bell and Lily Mae Garner's parents were Joseph M. and Henrietta Garner Worthy L. and Bertha Cunningham's parents were William and Mary A. Cunningham. (I expect Guy Cunningham may be William and Mary's grandson William Cunningham that was in the census born 1897. But don't know.) |
