photo A gathering on the courthouse square, about 1914 to 1922. The occasion is unknown. The building on the right with the large letters on it was the old and long gone Barry Hotel. Donna Cooper's Note: Possibly the celebration of the new court house - either when it was built or when it was voted in to build it.

Post from Betty Lamberson - The county officers pictured on the courthouse steps. New identification: The Man 4th from left in the back row is John Silas McQueen. He served as Barry County treasurer several years and in the State legislature two terms and was earlier the First Postmaster of Wheaton in 1907. He was born April 30, 1877 in Lee County, VA. He died Jun 9 1960. The lady standing to his immediate right is his wife Lettie Lambert McQueen who was born 1877 and died 1942. Their children were Thelma McQueen Smith, Berniece McQueen Viles (both teachers in Barry County) and a son Malloy McQueen who was a Lawyer and worked for a short time as a lawyer in Cassville. He later worked in Jefferson City. J. Silas and Letta are buried in Muncie Chapel Cemetery.

Lovella Moore said: I'm not sure but I think the man second from right on the back row is General Brixey. Look at him in this picture at this link and decide. Photo
