Minnesota Hot Dish

These recipes are so Minnesota!
Minnesotans never make casseroles ~ they make hot dishes.
Glorified Rice is found at every celebration and church supper.

MINNESOTA HOT DISH

1lb. hamburger
1small diced onion
1/3cup uncooked rice
1cup diced celery
1can cream of mushroom soup
1tbls soy sauce

Brown together: Hamburger and Onion
Mix together remaining ingredients
Mix with browned hamburger and turn into greased casserole dish.
Top with crumbled potato chips OR one small can french-fried onions OR shoestring potatoes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

GLORIFIED RICE

2cups cooked rice
1can crushed drained pineapple
1/2cup sugar
1vanilla extract
1small jar chopped drained maraschino cherries
1small bag miniature marshmallows, white or colored (optional)
112 oz. container whipped topping

Allow rice to cool 1 hour
Add remaining ingredients, mix well, and chill before serving
