New York Mills, Minn. - Fidessa Mary Farbo, 92, died at home, Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.

Fidessa was born on April 14, 1911, daughter of William and Hattie (White) Wilkie, Noyes. She attended elementary and high school in Emerson, Manitoba; Orleans and Humboldt.

She graduated from Moorhead State Teacher's College in Moorhead. Fidessa started her teaching career at an elementary school in McKinley Township and ended her teaching career in Blooming Valley Township, Roseau County.

Fidessa married Odd Farbo, Oct. 2, 1931. They had eight children.

Dedicating much time to public and spiritual service, Fidessa served as a 4-H leader, president of the Farmers Union Organization and superintendent and secretary/treasurer of the American Sunday School organization.

She taught Sunday School from 1944 to 1969 and was secretary/treasurer of the Ladies Aid from 1941-1980. She was also secretary/treasurer of the Blooming Valley School, Blooming Valley Township and clerk of Polonia Township. While she lived in Polonia Township, Fidessa took part in various ladies organizations within Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush.

Fidessa is survived by two sons, Williams, New York Mills; Richard (Darlene), Maplewood; six daughters Dessie (Bill) Parks, Perham; Gay (Richard) Phillips, Inver Grove Heights; Kay Anderson, Warren; Pat Udelhofen, Perham; Dinah (Dave) Burkel, Park Rapids; Eileen Farbo, New York Mills; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Fidessa in death were her parents; husband Odd in 1998; four siblings; two sons-in-law, Lowell Anderson and Ray Udelhofen and four grandchildren, Marion Phillips, David Phillips, Mark Burkel and Deborah Farbo.

Services were Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham, with Reverend John Krueger officiating.

Burial followed in the Perham Village Cemetery.

Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, was in charge of arrangements.
