David Supers

David Supers, 87, Karlstad and formerly of Lake Bronson, died at the Karlstad Nursing Center in Karlstad Sunday, May 16, 1993.

He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba March 9, 1906, the son of George and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Suppes. David moved to Orleans and Lancaster area when he was 20 years old and worked on local farms.

He was united in marriage to Ann Nyhus at Hallock Dec. 31, 1932. The couple settled in Lancaster and later moved to Oxford, Michigan.

David worked as a machinist in Pontiac, Michigan for General Motors. They moved to the west coast and lived in Oregon and California.

David worked in the aerospac industry as a machinist and retired in 1969. Following his retirement they moved to Minneapolis and then back to Kittson County a short tim later. He entered the nursing center Jan. 22, 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and David Stephens, Concord, MA, three grandsons, three great granddaughters, three brothers and four sisters-in-law, John and Mabel Suppes, Dominion City, Manitoba Fred and Martha Suppes, Winnipeg Manitoba, Elmer and Myrtle Suppes and Margaret Suppes all of Emerson Manitoba and a sister and brother-in law, Amelia and Harvey Nielsen, Hallock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19, 1993 at the Community Covenant Church, Lake Bronson. Interment was in the Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery at Lancaster.

The Rev. Bill Edwards presided. Music was provided by Bemice Homstad and the Rev. Curt and Nancy Johnson

Pallbearers were Harris Elfstrom, Gordon Bernstrom, Howard Homstad, Bruce Nielsen, Gary and Jimmy Suppes.

The Hughes Funeral Home in Hallock is in charge of arrangements.


Amelia Nielsen

Lancaster, Minn. - Amelia Anne Nielsen, 94, Hallock, died at Kittson Memorial Hospital Thursday evening, Feb. 21, 2008.

Amelia Suppes was born May 22, 1913 at Overstoneville, Manitoba. to George and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Suppes.

Amelia married Herman Hartwig and to this union two sons were born. Herman passed away several years after their marriage. On Aug. 3, 1946 Amelia was united in marriage to Harvey Nielsen at Morris, Manitoba. They settled in Richardville Township near Orleans, where they raised dairy and beef cattle. In 1979 they retired and moved to Hallock. Harvey died April 28, 2006.

One of the many things Amelia will be remembered for are the huge beautiful gardens she used to raise and care for.

Family members include three sons, Bruce (Tammy) Nielsen, Lancaster, Morley (Donna) Hartwig, Maple Grove, and Garth (Helen) Hartwig, Ramsey; two daughters, Linda (John) Krawchuk, Minneapolis, and Debra Nielsen, Dover, Del.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer (Myrtle) Suppes, Emerson, Manitoba.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Herman and Harvey; a grandson, William "Billy" Krawchuk; brothers, Dave, Jake, John and Fred and a sister, Elsie.
