Albert Streed Obituary

Albert (Al) Streed, 80, a longtime Hallock area resident, died Friday, Feb. 4, 1994 at the Midway Hospital, St. Paul.

Albert was born in Thompson Township of Kittson County 28 Sep 1913, the son of Bernhard and Christine (Gudmundson) Streed. He grew up near Hallock and attended country school. Albert was engaged in farming at Strathcona and started in the grocery business there in 1938. He later worked at the Golden Rule Store in Hallock and in 1943 started at the Farmers Store. He was united in marriage to Amelia Stewart at Hallock 08 Oct 1946. The couple wintered in Scottsdale, AZ for the past ten years. Albert retired as Chairman of the Board of the Farmers Store in 1993. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Hallock Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, sons and daughter in law, Bernhard Streed, Scottsdale, AZ and Daniel and Sandra Streed, South St. Paul; a grandson, two sisters, Esther Streed and Gerda Norvall, both of Edina, a brother and sisters in law, Stanley and Ella Mae Streed, Bloomington and Dawn Streed, Independence, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, 09 Feb 1994, 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock, MN. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock, the Rev. Kenneth Losch, presiding. Music will be provided by Phil Volkman, Marlys Peterson, Karen Otterson, Jillayne Kraska, Deb Pearson, Cindy Losch, Philip Peterson, Lyndon Johnson and Ron Fossell. Honorary pallbearers were E. N. Berg, Kenneth Johnson, Terry Larson, Henry Streed, Maurice Hugill and Maurice Peterson. Pallbearers will be Frederick Glidden, Phillard Rydberg, Leonard Swanson, Harry J. Hanson, Leo Locken and John Carpenter. The family prefers memorials to the Kittson County Hospice and Grace Lutheran Church.
