James Clark

James L. Clark, 72, Stephen, died Monday, April 20, 1998 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Jim was born Jan. 18, 1926, the son of Charles D. and Sigreid (Bjorntvedt) Clark at Stephen, where he grew up and attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

On July 27, 1947 he married Lois Stewart at Hallock. They made their home in Stephen where Jim worked as the manager of the Mobil Bulk Oil Plant and later managed the Stephen Fertilizer Plant.

He was also employed as a technician for the U.S. Dept of Agriculture, Tri-Valley Opportunity Council in Crookston, and later as director of senior meals at Mayville, retiring in 1988.

He was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church, Stephen; Stephen Masonic Lodge, Kem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Stephen American Legion Post #390 and a past member of Stephen Lions Club.

Family members include his wife, Lois, Stephen; sons, Greg, Warren; Brad (Deb), Kindred; daughters, Cynthia (Bruce) Bondy; and Jami (Jeff) Nelson, Stephen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bill, a sister Vivian Armstrong, and a half-sister, Mae Bazey.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 23, 1998, 10:30 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Stephen, with internment in Stephen City Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by Stephen American Legion Post #390. Rev. Michael L. Schendel officiated.

Music for the service was provided by Leslie Widner, organist and Sue Johnson, soloist.

Pallbearers were Howard nelson, George Smith, Vernon Dagoberg, Robert Glaus, Bill DeSautel, L. V. Norman and Ronald Anderson. a Masonic service was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at the Adamson-Austin Funeral Home, Stephen.
