Winnie B. Lapp

Elk Grove, Calif. - Winnie Bernice Lapp, 104, Elk Grove, Calif., died April 23, 2008.

She was born in St. Vincent, Dec. 6, 1903. Winnie moved to Ontario, Calif. in 1958 and then to Elk Grove in 1985.

Winnie was very active in her church and worked at the Food Depot and Love Inc. for many years. She was deeply committed to her family and loved each and everyone unconditionally. Her love for God and her family were evidenced daily as well as her strength in life.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel A. Lapp, daughter Ruth Z. Knott Statler and son Richard H. Lapp.

Her surviving family members are her son Samuel and his wife Dean Lapp, Henderson, Nev.; son Edward and his wife Gloria Lapp, Sacramento; son-in-law Gene Statler, Sacramento; daughter-in-law Janice Lapp, Elk Grove. She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Sandy Sorrels, David Lapp, Judy Garrett, Wendy Erickson, Brett Lapp, Amy Lapp, Lance Lapp, Tonya Alonzo and Shannon Bloodworth; 21 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services are Wednesday, May 7, 2008, 2 p.m. at St. Vincent Cemetery, St. Vincent.

Lillian M. Lapp, age 86, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1992 at her home in St. Vincent.

Lilliam was born Aug. 14, 1906 to Peter and Eva (Olson) Lapp in North Branch, MN and attended school there.

She taught school in St. Vincent for several years and later worked as a teacher's aide.

She was united in marriage to Richard H. Lapp, Jr. at North Branch Oct. 22, 1927. The couple lived in St. Vincent and were members of the Pembina Lutheran Church. Richard died Nov. 15, 1991.

Lilliam is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Lapp, St. Vincent; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Alice, Bemidji; Richmond and Marion, Grafton; John and Elaine, Burnsville, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at the Pembina Lutheran Church, the Rev. Reuben Jacobson officiating. Interment was at the St. Vincent Cemetery, with Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock in charge of arrangements.

Music was provided by Mrs. Edith Radig, organist. Casket bearers were Lillian's grandsons.
