Hyndman, Frederick William 1841

Hyndman, Frederick William (Anne McNutt, Penelope Stewart, Chief Justice Peter, Reverend Charles was born on 04 Sep 1841 in Malpeque, PE, CAN and died on 08 Sep 1925.

He was educated at the Central Academy, Charlottetown. Entered Royal Navy in 1856, and attached to Hydrographic Survey of Gulf of St. Lawrence and Newfoundland, under Captain Orlebar. Engaged in hydrographic work for the rest of his naval career. Present at the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. Retired from the Navy in 1870 and returned to PEI. Marshal of Vice-Admiralty Court, PEI 1871. Secretary to the Railway Board, PEI 1874; Provincial Auditor, 1876-79; Vice-Consul for USA, 1883-1888. In 1872 he entered the Marine Insurance field and became the Agent for Lloyd's of London, which was the start of Hyndman and Co. Insurance.
