The Biggest Little Museum in Southwest Minnesota
The Museum is a joint venture with the Murray County Historical Society, County government and the residents of Murray County. Starting from only a few items, which were displayed in the School Activities building on the fairgrounds in 1952, the museum's collection has grown to over 12,000 artifacts. It has been located in its present site, south of the county courthouse, since 1972, when it was dedicated by astronaut, Donald "Deke" Slayton, a distant relative of Charles W. Slayton, for whom the city of Slayton was named. Throughout the year the museum is host to a variety of activities. The grand finale for the year is a Parade of Trees, held the first week of December.

Check out the Murray County Research page for a listing of resources located at the Murray County Historical Museum.
