Louis De Grace has generously supplied the following research notes on his research into the origins of Antoni Pedro GRAS who settled in New Brunswick and later became known as Antoine De GRACE. I have capitalized surnames and put entire names in bold for ease in reading.

GRAS (Ancestors of Antoine De GRACE)
Family Records
From Archives at Palma de Mallorca, Spain

This is a summary of the records found at Palma de Mallorca up to October of 1992. Most of these were obtained in trips to Palma in 1985, and 1988. This summary is made in preparation for another trip to Palma in November of 1992.

The marriage and death records translated below are from certificates prepared by the archivist of the Episcopal (bishop's) palace of Palma de Mallorca. Translated by Louis G. De Grace, Jr. in October of 1992. (My skill in Spanish is very limited, and so the accuracy may be questionable.)

Translations are based on the copies typed by the archivist, who was in many cases reading from good to poor handwriting on paper in various stages of decay, although for the most part in amazingly good condition. However, it should be noted that the Spanish is also old, and the meaning of some terms may have changed in 200 or so years. However, the typed copies were an attempt by the archivist to make the words in the records legible. He would certainly have more skill than I in guessing at some of the more poorly written words.

Pere Antoni GRAS (Antoine's grandfather) 22 Oct 1728
