	Our line descends from Jacob GRASS -DeGRASSE (Johann Georg & Maria Christina _?_), a German Palatine born circa 1740 who immigrated through PA to NJ, USA in September, 1752, on the same ship with other GRASSes et var., relationship unknown; that he served in various NJ militia, and then, as a Loyalist moved to New Brunswick, Canada circa 1783 Jacob married, possibly for the first time, at Maugerville in 1788 to Priscilla MILLS and their 9 children were presumably born in Sunbury County, New Brunswick thereafter. Check out the Jacob GRASS Family group sheet. Also from Carol Grasse Glidden is a list of Jacob GRASS' descendants. (not complete‚ I have others and add to it frequently). Included on the ship passenger list for the ship Halifax arriving in Philadelphia on 22 Sep 1752, captained by Captain Thomas Coatan and departing Rotterdam via Cowes, England were (bold and caps added): J.Johannes GRIESSE Christian GRÄZ Ludwig GRASS Jacob GRASS Michael GRASS That same week on the ship Nancy arriving in Philadelphia on 27 Sep 1752, captained by Captain John Ewing and departing Rotterdam via Cowes, England was (bold and caps added): George GRASS If the birth year of 1740 for Jacob GRASS is correct, then perhaps one or more of these others might have been an older sibling? (The Ancestral File Online has Jacob's father as Johann Georg GRASS of Bavaria.) It seems unlikely to me that a 12 year old would have made the journey alone. Anyone have further information? Michael GRASS was said to have been born 1735, so perhaps a relationship there? A Captain Michael GRASS is shown on Lorelei Schulz's Loyalist pages as having received landgrants at Kingston Township together with his New York Loyalists. I don't know the connection, if any, between this Captain Michael GRASS and the Michael GRASS who arrived on the Halifax in 1752. If anyone knows more, I'd be glad to add your comments here.
