Dordi Haldorson

FALLS ON PORCH 2 WEEKS AGO; DIED MONDAY Mrs. Ole Haldorson of South Oakland, Takes Turn for the Worse on Monday and Died in Very Short time. Mrs. Ole Haldorson, nee Dordi Wangseng [Vangseng], of South Oakland township, died at her old home Monday, Aug. 28, 1927 at 11:20 a. m. She had the misfortune of falling down on the porch about two weeks ago bruising her hip bone. Since then she has been confined to her bed, although she did not complain of much pain. Last week Thursday she was taken with pleurisy. The doctor was called and she was releaved of her pain in her side, resting quite well form that time on. Sunday she was visited by mahy {sic) of her relatives and friends and conversed well with all. Monday morning she took her usual nourishment and went to sleep. She awoke at 11:00 with a noticeable falling away and change of expression. Her daughter, sister, and daughter-in-law, who kept constant watch over her, called her sons home. But before they arrived she had breathed her last. As those present prayed the Lord's Prayer at her bedside she moved her lips and it was evident that she was praying with them, so she was conscious to the last. Mrs. Haldorson was born in Ronebo [Rennebu] Trondhjem, Norway, July 26, 1840, being at her death, Aug. 28, 1927, 87 years, 1 month, 2 days. She came to America at the age of 32, and a month after her arrival she was married to Ole Haldorson, making their home at O. K. Wangen's farm near Lerdal. Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Haldorson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at which time all her sisters and one bother were together. It was an unusual gathering of old folks. There ages at that time were: Mrs. Ingeborg Erickson 90 (died May 1, 1924, at almost 92 yrs. old) Svend Wangseng [Vangseng] 87, Mrs. Siri Jensen 85, Mrs. Haldorson 82 and Mrs. Kirsti Johnson 77. With the exception of Mrs. Erickson and Mrs. Haldorson all are still living having now added five more years to their span of life. Besides these Mrs. Haldorson now leaves to mourn her loss as a loving and faithful mother, four children; Ida (Mrs. Tom Skamfer) Swend H., a merchant at London, Minn. Con and Albert farmers, also two adopted daughters, Mrs Dena Holte and Annie Ingvaldson. Her grandchildren, fourteen in number, are Swan, Dena, Dorothy, Inga, Olga, and Selma Skamfer, Otto, Selmer, Clarence, Dorothy, Irene and Glen Haldorson, Maxine Haldorson and Obert Haldorson. Her great grandchildren are five: Inez, Eliane and Lois Bailey, Milton and Lorna Wulff [Wolff]. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at the house and at 1:30 at Trondhjem church near the near the Haldorson home. Burial will be made at the Tondhjem cemetery near the Oakland church. Rev Fritz officiating.
