Rev. Andrew Nordaune

Obituary - Austin Daily Herald 1899 Rev Nordaune 1950 Andrew Nordaune was born near Montevideo, Minn July 1 1899, a son of Mrs. and Mrs. Jens Nordaune. he was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran Chruch, Baxter Township. He was a graduate of Windom academy, Montevideo, St Olaf college, Northfield and Luther Theological seminary St. Paul. After graduating from college he was high school principal at Comfrey, Minn. for two years. On June 5, 1927, he was ordained into the holy ministry and on June 11, he was united in marriage to Miss Marianna Ry of Blooming Prairie. He served as pastor of the churches of the Parshall, N. D. parish, 1927 to 1934, and came to Hayward in April, 1934. In June, 1947 he became unable to continue his work as active pastor but planned and managed to work from his bed most of the time. Rev. Nordaune passed away peacefully early Tuesday Morning, Sept. 19. A devotional service for the family was conducted at the Hayward church by Rev. A. R. H. Johnson, Albert Lea at 10:30 a. m. Friday, Sept. 22. At 2 P. m. funeral services were conducted with Pastor S. J. Fretheim officiating. Rev. A. L. Swensen, Austin, delivered the sermon. Greetings were brought by Dr. Nils Kleven, District President, Dr. P. M. Glasoe, St. Olaf college, and Pastors A. C. Korsrud, Glenville, M. S. Knutson Albert Lea, A. H. Holm, Montevideo and G. S Froiland, Dawson. The latter confirmed Pastor Nordaune and took part in his ordination. Mrs. C. K. Lunde was organist and Mrs. Koren Johnson, Mrs. Philip Hanson, Russell Esse, Carlyle Skaar and Kermit Froiland sang. Interment was made at Oakland cemetery. Rev. Nordaune is survived by his wife, three sons, Vernon, Kenneth and Gordan, one daughter, Valborg of Hayward, his parents, four brothers and six sisters, all in or near Montevideo.
