She married Daniel A. Lambert on July 12, 1985 in Port Huron. Mrs. Lambert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a graduate of Port Huron High School. She is survived by her husband, Daniel A. Lambert of Port Huron; sons, Daniel J. and William G. Lambert of Port Huron; her mother, Margaret M. Kenner of Port Huron; her grandmother, Anna K. Rock of Port Huron; her sisters, Katherine R. (Larry) Eagle, Patricia D. (Daryl) Smith, B. Gayle Kenner, Debra A. Kenner, Dorothy E. Kenner, all of Port Huron, and Linda A. (Jim) Greuber of Smiths Creek; her brothers, Roger D. (Doris) Kenner of Port Huron, Charles N. Kenner of Port Huron, Patrick L.D. "Kimball Twp. - Edna M. "Johnnie" Lambert, 71, of Kimball Township, passed away Friday, May 5, 2000, in Port Huron Hospitl following a long illness. She was born to Adolph and Mary Johnson on Jan. 3, 1929, in Rockland and married Russel K. Lambert on Oct. 2, 1948, at Selfridge AFB. "Johnnie" loved animals. She enjoyed hiking, camping, motorcycle riding, crafts, knitting and crocheting. She was a fantastic mom and made wonderful, homemade cookies. Edna is survived by her husband, Russel K. Lambert of Kimball Township; five children, Penny L. Wilson of Las Vegas, Nv., Michael S. Lambert of Onaway, Karen L. (Daniel) Durrick of Lehighton, Pa., Patrick E. (Debbie) Lambert of Port Huron and Lori (Russell) Ransom of Gwinn; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. There will be a service in Edna's memory at 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, in Port Huron Family Funeral Home, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. David Caswell, pastor of Northgate Bible Church, will officiate. Interment will take place in Kinney Cemetery at a later time. Visitation will be beginning at noon until the hour of service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice."

"Mrs. Ernest P. Lamont, 74, former resident of St. Clair, died at a nursing home in Lakeland Florida, Sunday, January 15 after a long illness. Funeral services were held January 17. Burial was in Lakeland. Mrs. Lamont was born in St. Clair, Nov. 10, 1875, to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sewart. She was a member of the First Congregational church, St. Clair. She is a sister of the late Arthur A. Sewart, St. Clair; whom the Lamonts visited in 1948 and 1949. She formerly lived in New Haven, Michigan, where her husband was superintendent of schools, and later editor of its newspaper. The moved to Lakeland, Florida, in 1924. She is survived by her husband."

"Capac - Claude E. Lamphere, 49, of 104 Mattison Street, was dead on arrival Saturday evening at Almont Hospital, after suffering a heart attack in his home. The son of the late Lawrence and Eliza Ferguson Lamphere, he was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Capac and was a lifelong resident. He married Betty Revenew, Feb. 19, 1948, in Capac. Mr. Lamphere was assistant superintendent of Lapeer State Home and Training School and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his widow; his stepmother, Mrs. Lillie Lamphere, Capac; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Carol) Atkeson, and Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Mosack, both of Imlay City; three grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Lamphere, Detroit, and William Lamphere, Capac; and a sister, Mrs. Edgar (Barbara) Apple, Bradenton, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Barnard Funeral Home, Capac, with Rev. Roy Forsyth, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Elizabeth Landseidel
"St. Clair - Mrs. Geo. Landseidel, nee Elizabeth Young, died at her home in St. Clair town Monday from chronic valvular heart trouble. The deceased was born May 30, 1849 in Detroit. In young womanhood she was married to Geo. Landseidel, a native of Germany and made her home in St. Clair town where they since resided. To them were born nine children of
whom one was drowned and one died after reaching manhood in the state of Washington. The others are living and of these Mary, George, and Frank are at home; Anna now Mrs. Chas. Revenue resides in St. Clair; Amos lives in Detroit; Benjamin is in business in Wisconsin and Edward in the state of Washington. The father of the family now 89 years of age is still living and with the children remain to mourn her loss. Mrs. Landseidel was a member of the Catholic church and during her long residence here had made a large circle of friends by who she highly esteemed and who will regret she is to be with then no more.

Surviving are two brothers George, St. Clair, and Edward Landsiedel, Saskatchawan, Canada. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the L.C. Friederichs and son funeral home. Rev. Stephen Langell
"St. Clair, Jan. 2 - Stephen Langell, 67, died early today in a fire which apparently started in the attic of his home at 1402 Clinton street, burned through the ceiling and ignited the bed on which he was sleeping. Coroner Robert F. Hartley attributed death to asphyxiation and third-degree burns. Firemen found the body in the hallway, just outside the bedroom where Mr. Langell had crawled or staggered before being overcome. T. R. Bower, St. Clair Fire Chief, said a faulty chimney was the apparent cause of the fire confined principally to the attic and the bedroom beneath it. Flames had gained considerable headway before the firemen were summoned about 6 a.m., Chief Bower said. The alarm was turned in from an alarm box near the scene. One of Mr. Langell's pet dogs, of which he had several, was found burned to death on the bed. Mr. Langell, who lived alone, was a former lakes sailor and shipyard worker for the Hanna Steamship company. He had been working as a carpenter at the time of his death. As a sailor he possessed an unlimited pilot's license. He was second mate aboard the steamer Howard Hanna when the ship survived the famous storm on the Lakes in November, 1913. Mr. Langell is survied by three brothers, Rolla W., Ralph D., and Earl B. Langell, all of St. Clair, and a sister, Mrs. Grace E. Noble, Royal Oak. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the T. R. Bower funeral home. Mrs. Effie Hammond, Christian Science reader of St. Clair, will officiate. The place of burial has not been determined."

Adelaide Helen Langolf
"Port Huron - Mrs. Adelaide Helen Langolf, of Port Huron, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, after a long illness. Born in Detroit, Helen had lived in Port Huron since her marriage to Joseph Richard Langolf on Dec. 26, 1950. She was devoted to her family. Helen was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron, and the Mary Martha Guild. She attended the Golden Agers and enjoyed playing cards at the senior center and going for walks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 1982. Helen is survived by her mother, Helen Mueller of Port Huron; her sons and their families. Dr. and Mrs. William "Rick" (Janet) Langolf, Bill and Laura of Croswell and Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Langolf, Heather and Rob of North Street. She will be sadly missed by many special friends and relatives. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert H. Mann will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Michael Reilly, Chuck Langolf, Steve Langolf, Ken Reilly, Michael Nagy and her brother-in-law, Ed Reilly. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials go to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School."

Norma M. Langolf
"Port Huron - Norma M. Langolf, 75, of 1504 21st St., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1987, in University Hospital, Ann Arbor, after a long illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1911, at the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse in Port Huron, and was a lifelong city resident. She married Andrew Langolf Dec. 21, 1928. The couple celebrated their 58th anniversary Dec. 21, 1986. Mrs. Langolf was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Mueller Brass Co. and the Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by her husband; sons, Andrew E., William C. and Richard D. Langolf; daughters, Norma Jean Balmer, Joyce Elaine Brennan and Judith A. Bailey, all of Port Huron, and Janet E. Sanders, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Langolf. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in The Jowett Funeral Home. Jack Whitmore of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. "Algonac - Hazel M. LaParl died quietly, early Wednesday morning, Aug. 2, 2000 in Faith Medical Care Center, St. Clair. Hazel was born in Algonac at 902 Smith Street, Oct. 8, 1905 to Bessie Abel Zaetsch and John Stephen Zaetsch. Hazel and Millard A. LaParl were married in Marine City in the bride's home on Sept. 30, 1925. Millard died July 31, 1962 in Algonac. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ray Millard LaParl and Geraldine V. LaParl; her granddaughter and husband, Cindy L. and Ronald R. Barbosa; her grandson and two great-grandsons, Danny Ray LaParl, Danny Ryan and Matthew Ray LaParl; nephews and wives, Robert and Joann Babashak and James and Joyce Banashak. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Millard; her parents, John S. Zaetsch on May 28, 1939 aboard the ship, Adriatic and Bessie Zaetsch Shrapnell Jan. 25, 1974; her brother, Millard W. "Fuz" Zaetsch on May 3, 1977, nephew, Thomas Banashak on Sept. 5, 1982; her sister-in-law, Athelean LaParl Banashak on May 30, 1990, her brother-in-law, Frank Banashak on Dec. 16, 1990. There will be no visitation. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery beside her husband, Millard. Committal services were conducted by The Rev. Brad Terhune of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home."

"Ruby - Calvin W. Lapp, 60, of Ruby, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999 in the V.A. Medical Center, Detroit following a long illness. He was born July 20,1939 in Cadillac, MI. Mr. Lapp attended Port Huron Schools. He was a 12 year Navy veteran. He was employed as an electrician. He served his church as a lay minister. Bible study was central to his life. He was also a member of Charles A. Hammond Post #8, American Legion. He will be remembered as a beloved father and friend. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Doug) Watson and Ruth Lapp, all of Ruby; his brother, George (Kay) Lapp of Saginaw; his niece, Alexandra Lapp of Saginaw; and his life long friend, Johanne Watson of Fargo. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Court Street Baptist Church. Pastor Matthew T. McPhillips of Court Street Baptist Church and The Rev. Robert Rands of Smith Creek Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek. Visiting hours are 6 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. She died July 6, 1998. Mr. Lask was a member of Charles A. Schoor VFW Post 796. He was employed by Mueller Brass Co. for serveral years and was a Korean War veteran. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lask is survived by a son, Jeff Lask; a daughter, Lori (Brad) Furness; a daughter, Terri L. "Smiths Creek - Mr. Francis A. "Frank" LaTurno, 74, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 6, 1987 in his home. He was born May 9, 1912, in Thornton. He had lived here most of his life. He married Ruth Jean Neal on March 14, 1936, in Goodells. He attended school in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School. He was an express messenger for Railway Express Agency for many years. He was a former member of the Smiths Creek Lions club and also a member of the Smiths Creek Lodge 491 F&AM. He is survived by his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Norman Brown, Port Huron; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barb LaTurno, China Grove, N.C.; six grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery. Visiting is 6 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Jowett Funeral Home. Donald L. LaVere, Sr.
"Port Huron - Donald L. LaVere Sr., 77, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999. He was bom April 12, 1922, in Port Huron, to the late Joseph and Chalice LaVere. He married Evangeline Hatt on June 26, 1948, in Flint. Mr. LaVere graduated from Port Huron High School in 1941. He was employed with Mueller Brass Co. for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1976. He served in the Philippines with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Charles Hammond American Legion Post 8 and Charles Schoor VFW Post 796. He was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, trustee and Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Men's Brotherhood. He is survived by his wife, Evangeline; fours sons, Mr. and Mrs. Simeon "Sam" (Carol) LaVere of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. Keith (Mary) LaVere of Kimball Township, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Judy) LaVere Jr. of Clyde Township and Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Sandy) LaVere of Port Huron; a daughter, Charlotte Cohrs of Port Huron; 11 grand children; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. George (Maxine) LaVere of Fort Gratiot; a sister-in-law, Dorothy LaVere of Sparlingville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and William LaVere, and two sisters, infant Mary LaVere and Bessie Garand. She was born Feb. 10, 1906 in Snover and lived in Port Huron since 1919. She married Jay Elmer Leathorn July 29, 1927 in Port Huron. Mrs. Leathorn retired in 1970 from Mercy Hospital. She was a member of the Oldies but Goodies Bowling League at Viking Lanes and the Free Methodist Church and its women's missionary society. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. James E. (Ramona Jean) Allen, Mrs. Frederick T. (Kay) Mitchell and Mrs. Kenneth (Vicki Ann) Lawrence, all of Port Huron, and Mrs. Gary (Dorothy) Brothers, Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Bruce, Port Huron; two brothers, Morley McClung, Winona Lake, Ind., and John W. McClung, Warsaw, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. George (Lottie) Harrington, Bay City; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. William Leathorn
"Wm. Leathorn Met Death by Drowning After Crossing the River in a Row Boat Died Few Minutes After Being Taken from Water - Yesterday afternoon William Leathorn who resides with his family at 136 St. Vincent St. went across the river to Port Huron in a rowboat. He remained in that city for a short time and then started on the return trip to Sarnia. He rowed up into the bay and attempted to land at the tramway of the Cleveland-Sarnia Saw Mills. In doing this the boat upset and Leathorn was thrown into the water. He succeeded in reaching the boom logs but could not maintain hold and again fell into the river. The men who were working on the tramway saw the man struggling in the water and immdiately went to his assistance. Leathorn was pulled out of the river and landed on the tramway but he only gave a few gasps for breath and expired. The pulmotor was sent for but was of no avail. Dr. MacDonald was notified and after viewing the body and making an investigation decided that an inquest was not necessary. The body was removed to the undertaking rooms of Phippen & Simpson and prepared for burial. The unfortunate man was aged 58 years and 6 months and was employed as a blacksmith at the Grand Trunk roundhouse. He is survived by his widow and a family of children."

St. Clair, March 14 - An elderly Adair man, George Leffellad, 72, of 3443 Firs street was found dead in a ditch near his home at Adair today a victim of heart disease. The man was found by his son, Fred, who instigated a search for him after he was missed from his home. Corner Stewart S. Kipp said the elderly man was stricken with heart disease and fell into the ditch which contained about 12 inches of water. Corner Kipp said there would be no inquest. The remains were taken to the T. R. Bower funeral home, St. lair. Funeral arrangements are incomplete."

"Port Huron - Mollie A. Lehr, 88, of Port Huron, formerly of Flint, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000. She was born Oct. 29, 1911, in Kinde, Russia, to the late Lewin and Amelia Albert. She came to Port Huron in August 1923 at the age of 12. She married Frederick Lehr from Flint on April 2, 1932. They were married for 64 years until his death in 1996. Mrs. Lehr was employed by Dr. W.A. Schaefer for nine years in Port Huron and retired from A.C. Spark Plug in 1972 after 24 years of service. She was a charter member of Calvary Bible Church in Mount Morris, was a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and the German Brotherhood. She is survived by two nieces, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Ella) Burde of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs. Ruben (Zelma) Gans of Flushing; five nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Delores) Langolf, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Patricia) Langolf, Mr. and Mrs. Alex (Sharon) Langolf, Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Helen) Albert and Mr. and Mrs. Victor (Dorothy) Albert, all of Port Huron; four sisters-in-law, Olga Albert, Ella Herwaldt Jr., Adeline Gans and Lydia Kruse; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many good friends, including Mr. and Mrs. John (Joan) Bopp. She was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Lehr Jr., four brothers and two sisters. David Lewis
�St. Clair - David Lewis, 81, died Sunday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marie Schneider, Warren, Mich., after a long illness. Mr. Lewis was born Jan. 22, 1878, in England, son of Frank and Sarah Lewis. He came to this country when he was 12 years old and lived since in St. Clair. Mr. Lewis married Estella Allen in 1906. Mrs. Lewis died in 1959. He was employed by the P. H. & D. railroad for more than 40 years retiring in 1946. He was a life member of the Congregational church. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Emily Harden, Yale; Mrs. Grace Ahles, Mrs. Schneider and Mrs. Marguerite Fleury, all of St. Clair; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Remains are in the Bower-Greenway funeral home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Robert J. Burgess, pastor of the Congregational church, will officiate. (Weiss) Lewthwaite. He was a sophomore at Tower High School in Warren. Danny enjoyed hockey and other sports. He loved attending the Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camps. Victor Vaughn Levitt
"St. Clair - Victor Vaughn Levitt was born on Sept. 18, 1926, to Florence Campbell Levitt and Clifford Levitt in Croswell. He attended the local schools and was a gifted athlete and musician, playing the clarinet until prevented by an injury. He eloped with Lorraine Weaver on Sept. 13, 1947, in Bowling Green, Ohio. This surprise marriage lasted 52 years. Vic and Lorraine were life partners, raising six children and building a successful business together. The first two of their six children, Gary Lee and Gayle Lynn, were born in Croswell. The family moved to St. Clair in 1950 when Vic accepted a job at Kuhn Sales and Service. The rest of their children, Wayne Paul, Wynn Paulette and Kent Alan, were born in St. Clair. In 1970, they adopted Kimba Ann from Seoul, Korea. Vic later opened his own auto repair business, Vic's Collision Shop in St. Clair. He and Lorraine owned and operated this shop until their retirement in 1988, when his eldest son, Gary, took it over and renamed it Gary's Collision Shop. Vic was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was called to priesthood in 1948. He later became pastor of the St. Clair branch and served at various times from 1958 to 1984. Vic will be remembered for his open, kind-hearted and sincere administrations as an elder of the church. After his retirement, Vic and Lorraine spent winters in their home in Punta Gorda, Fla. They also traveled to visit their children and grandchildren in New York, Missouri and Alaska, as well as spending vacations in Hawaii. Vic is survived by his wife, Lorraine Levitt, and five children, Gary (Nancy) Levitt of St. Clair, Gayle (Edward) Gensler of Independence, Mo., Wayne (Annie) Levitt of Berne, N.Y., Wynn Fidino Levitt of Homer, Alaska and Kim Levitt of Ann Arbor. His youngest son, Kent Levitt, died in an accident in March 1981. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Zachary and Roselee Egon of St. Clair, Travis, Tiffany, Trevor, Tyra and Trista Gensler of Independence, Mo, Jesse Levitt of Berne, N.Y. and Chanda, Cheniah and Candace Fidino of Homer, Alaska. Another granddaughter, Faith Florence Fidino, died in Chugiak, Alaska in 1982. Mr. Levitt is also survived by an older brother, Clifford Levitt of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a younger sister, Sharon Henderson of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation at the L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home is 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be Wednesday. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery."

"Port Huron - Paul Lewandowski, 73, of 1715 Sixteenth Street, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital, Port Huron, after a short illness. He was born Dec. 16, 1903, in Port Huron, and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Lewandowski attended Port Huron area schools, was a former employee of the Detroit Edison co. and Southeastern Michigan Gas Company. He retired as an employee of the City of Port Huron in 1966. He was married to Elsie M. Tousley who died March 28, 1938. Mr. Lewandowski later married Lillian V. Vigrass who died Dec. 6, 1967. Surviving Mr. Lewandowski are three daughters, Mrs. Edythe A. Minor, Mrs. Mary Jane Dionne and Mrs. Paulette J. Russell, all of Port Huron; one son, Paul F. Lewandowski, Jr., Port Huron; two brothers, Carl J. Lewandowski, Port Huron, and Adam J. Lewandowski, Chicago; and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Port Huron, with Rev. Robert Koenig officiating. Burial will be in Mt. George W. Lewis
"St. Clair, Oct. 24 - George W. Lewis, 80, of 552 North Fourth street, was found dead about 3 a.m. today, about an hour after it is believed he accidentally fell out of a second-story bedroom window. Coroner Arthur B. Smith said Mr. Lewis died of shock and exposure. St. Clair police said Mr. Lewis had been ill for some time, and it is believed that when he opened his bedroom window about 2 am. today he lost his balance and fell to the ground. His body was found at about 6:15 a.m. today by his son, Stanley Lewis. Mr. Lewis was born Aug. 14, 1875, in England, son of the late Frank and Sarah Lewis. He and his wife, Cora, were married in 1899 in St. Clair. Mr. Lewis worked 14 years at the Diamond Crystal Salt company, and before that he farmed. Mrs. Lewis died in 1952. Mr. Lewis is survived by three sons, Alfred Lewis, Port Huron, and Fred and Stanley Lewis, both of St. Clair; a step-brother, Russell Lewis, Yale; a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Guildenstein, St. Clair; a brother, David Lewis, St. Clair; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Remains are in the T. R. Bower funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Earl Linderholm, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery."

"Richmond - Albert F. Liebetreu, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1988. He was a lifetime area resident. He married Elverna "Tiny" LaVigne May 18, 1946. Mr. Liebetreu was owner and operator of Adair Grain and Feed Co. for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's United church of Christ, Adair, where he was also on the Church Board. He was former president and member of the board of directors of the St. Cliar-Macomb Co-Op. He was a member of the board of directors of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau. Mr. Liebetreu is survived by his wife; three sons and two daughters, Terrance, Donald and Robert, all of Richmond, Jean of Charlotte, N. She was born March 30, 1910, in Sanilac County to Albert and Clyta Marshall. She was the dear mother of Orlo Lightle (Hazel) of Alger. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and a son, Lyle. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, West Branch. Funeral services are at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Steuernol and McLaren Funeral Home, West Branch. He is survived by his wife; two sons, David F. and William Peter Likins, both of St. Clair; three sisters. Mrs. Ernest Cassin, Port Huron, Mrs. Patrick Donahue, Grosse Pointe Woods, and Mrs. Lloyd Sharrard, Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Richard Likins, Glennie, Mich., and five grandchildren. The remains will be in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, with visiting hours 7 to 9 p.m. today, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday n the funeral home. "St. Clair - Dorothy Lindsay, 83, of St. Clair went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2000. She was born Jan. 4, 1917, to Rupert and Elda (Muggleburg) Stolp. She married Lester (Red) Lindsay on Sept. 26, 1936. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1968. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Eastern Star, Cornell Marysville 93. She worked at the Diamond Crystal Salt Co. office for 24 years before her retirement. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Mary Lindsay of Grand Rapids and Craig and Paulette Lindsay of St. Clair; six grandchildren, Lisa (Paul) Arsenault of Grand Rapids, Jenifer Lindsay of Seattle, Wash., Ronald (Pam) Lindsay of St. Clair, Ian Lindsay of Chicago, Sara Lindsay of St. Clair and Paul Lindsay of St. Clair; great-grandchildren, Jacqueline and Erika Lindsay and Amelia Arsenault; sister, Lorraine Springer of Spring Brach, Texas; brother-in-law, Albert Simons of China Township; and her loving niece, Suzanne Kenyon. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marion Simons and Marjorie Schleede. A memorial service will be noon Monday in Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. John F. Lingemann, 89, who has spent eight years with his daughter, Mrs. Rose Hayner, 409 North Fifth St., St. Clair, passed away June 26 and was buried on Monday at Parkview Memorial, Wayne, Michigan. A member of one of Detroit�s oldest families Mr. Lingemann married Rose Faber on Nov. 11, 1884, and she passed away 21 years age. He was the first secretary of the Hardware Dealers� Association and conducted a hardware business and the Home Messenger Service before traveling through the west for the United States government. Mr. Lingemann is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Rose Hayner of St. Clair; Mrs. Laurel Allpn, Mrs Pearl Gale and Mrs. Myrtle Koebele, and a son John R., all of Detroit."

Gary was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Peters. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving with the U. S. Marine Corps. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included playing cards and shooting pool. He is survived by his loving parents, Russell and Pearl Lipke of Casco Township; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Tom Zielinski of China Township and Carol and Tony Van Troostengberghe of Columbus Township; nieces, Jessica VanTroostenberghe, Sherri (Steve) Parmentier and Michelle Zielinski; nephew, Edward Zielinski; great-nephew, Bryan Parmentier; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Herman and Mary Stern and Bernard and Helen Lipke. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Peters."

Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1983, in the family residence. He was born March 15, 1918, in Richmond. He was a lifelong area resident and farmer. Mr. Lippstreuer was a member of the Richmond Sportsman Club. He is survived by two brothers, Harvey, Florida, and George, Richmond; a sister, Mrs. Irvin (Eileen) Olczak, Memphis; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hensch Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Richmond. Dr. Steven Gjerstad, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond, will officiate. Maria Little
"Mrs. Maria Little whose death occurred in Chicago, March 20, 1891, of la Gripp was born in Dublin, Ireland, June 9, 182 moving to St. Clair, in 1867, and was therefore, at the time of her death nearly years of age. She was visiting a daughter in Chicago when attacked with the illness which carried her off. Her husband Charles Little died here in the summer of 1874. The living children are Mrs. T. Hudson, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. E. Keating, Chicago; W. H. Little, St. Louis Mo.; Tillie Little, Chicago; Geo. J. and Chas. L. Little, St. Clair and all mourn the death of a loving, faithful mother. The remains were brought by rail to Port Huron and by steamer Clara to this city on Sunday, where they were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Those from abroad attendance at the funeral were her brothers, Joseph and John Armstrong, and her sister Mrs. Noah Farrington, all of Bay City, and her son, W. H. Little, of St. Louis, Mo. The two daughters of the deceased living in Chicago are dangerously sick of the same disease and Mr. Little was called by telegram to the city Tuesday."

Russell H. Little
"Port Huron Twp. - Russell H. Little, 93, of Port Huron Township journeyed home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 11, 2000, peacefully in his home that he helped build over 60 years ago. He was born March 10, 1907, in Port Huron to the late Elburtis and Daisy (Perry) Little. He married Marion E. Brokenshire in Port Huron. She died Feb. 17, 1986. Mr. Little retired from Chrysler Corporation, Marysville Plant as an Inspector. He belonged to U.A.W. Local #375. He was a long time member of Sturges Memorial Congregational Church. Russell enjoyed senior citizen activities, loved music and singing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to reminisce about his younger days in the South Park area. Uncle Russell touched everyone he met with his positive outlook on life and love for the Lord. He will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by a son, Burton Little of Port Huron; two special friends, Jean Waddell and Ira Wood; several nieces and nephews, including Beverly Walker, Ellen (Thomas) Ross, all of Port Huron, Allen (Cindy) Little of Marysville and Barbara Little of Florida; seven great-nieces, Tammy (Bill) Prout, Robin Bowen, Lisa (Jerry) Owen, Mary Jo Little, Kendra, Alyson and Rachel Walker; one great-nephew, Andrew (Denise) Little of Arizona; five great-great-nephews, Christian, Zachary and Noah Prout, Sean Carrigan and Joshua Bowen, all of Port Huron and two great-great-nieces, Jordan Owen of Port Huron and Jennie Bowen of California. "Died. - In this city, on the 13th inst., Jno. W. Loucks, sen., aged 66 years. The deceased was formerly of Detroit, and became a resident of this place in 1835. This patient sufferer has at last been called to his rest. In his last sickness he was baptized, confirmed and admitted to the Holy Communion. It is indeed an edifying scene, to witness the weak submission, the trust, the endurance and fortitude with which he met his last sufferings. Calmly and firmly was every pain endured. Sustained by his Divine Lord, he felt that he was in His hand, and that He would do all things well. He has been gathered to his Father, having the testimony of a good conscience; in the communion of the Catholic Church, in the confidence of a certain faith; in the comfort of a reasonable, religious and holy hope; in favor with his God, and in perfect charity with the world. Sad beyond expression is the bereavement which his departure involves to all the valued interest of life with which he was associated; a wife has lost a considerate and kind husband; children a loving father; the neighborhood a valued friend, the Church an honorable member, but he has gained the prize for which he so earnestly contended in his last sickness, and now rests from his labors. "From its earliest aspect there are always elements of sadness accompanying every death. Circumstances sometimes attend that make it especially so. These were present in large degree in connection with the departure of Mrs. Chas. A. Loughin, whose death occurred Wednesday afternoon, July 6, 1892. Julia A., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parker, was born in the township of Casco, this county, Sept. 9, 1861. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 30 years, 9 months and 27 days. Since the death of an older brother, the going of a younger one to the west, and of a sister to her work as a missionary, at Ningpo, China, Julia was the only child remaining in the family circle. The blow falls heavily upon her parents, not only for the resulting loneliness but for the deprivation of the counsel and guidance upon which they were coming to depend. And yet the draught has its sweetness in the consolation that she is enjoying the blessedness of the redeemed. She had heeded the injunction of her Saviour- "Therefore be ye also ready"- and could in christian resignation, welcome his coming. Some years since she became a member of the Baptist church of this city. Her life was such as to commend to all who knew her, the religion of her Master. Her death a powerful witness to the victory of Christ over the terror of dying. December 24, 1891, she was married to Chas. A. Loughin. After this brief married life of earth she was gone to the "marriage supper of the Lamb." The stricken husband, so soon bereft, has the fullest sympathy of all. Her funeral, very largely attended by sympathizing friends and neighbors, was held at the Baptist church, on Friday morning July 8. The burial in the family lot in the city cemetery."

Ferris Lucas
Lawman nationally respected - Former county sheriff Ferris Lucas dead at age 83 - By Pat Heck; Voice Staff Writer - "Former St. Clair County Sheriff Ferris Lucas, one of the nation's most decorated and respected professionals in law enforcement, died March 18, 1992, at the age of 83. It was less than ten years ago in 1983, that Lucas retired from law enforcement at the age of 75. Mr. Lucas began his long career as a patrolman with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department before becoming a deputy with the St. Clair County sheriff's Department in 1933. Among his most memorable local cases was during Prohibition when Lucas shot and apprehended John Youngblood, a member of the notorious Dillinger gang. Dillinger, who was public enemy number one at the time, and his gang were considered to be the most dangerous criminals in modern history. During the shootout, which occurred at an area drug store, one officer was killed and two others wounded. Mr. Lucas went on the be elected sheriff of St. Clair County in 1938 and held that post until 1956. He was then appointed head of the Michigan Sheriff's Association and in 1964 he was elected executive director of the National Sheriff's Association in Washington, D. C. During his 18 years in Washington, Lucas was known as "Mr. Sheriff' and testified before Congress on almost every bill that related to law enforcement. A graduate of the FBI Academy and other law enforcement schools, he was among the top candidates to replace J. Edgar Hoover as director of the FBI. In 1968 Lucas was awarded the Law and Order Award of the Stars and Bars--only two such medals have been awarded--to Lucas and Hoover. He was also awarded the J. Edgar Hoover Memorial Award for "outstanding accomplishments and contributions in the critical field of law enforcement." A national law enforcement award was later named in his own honor. The Ferris E. Lucas Award of Law Enforcement is the highest law enforcement award, honoring an officer for outstanding and meritorious service. When Lucas retired in 1983 at the age of 75 a testimonial movie of his career was produced by the National Sheriff's Association entitled, "Fifty Years Behind a Badge." He is survived by a son, F. Edward Lucas II of Waterford; a daughter, Linda E. Lucas of Grant Township; four grandchildren; sisters, Leota Lamb, Aelma Droesch and Edythe Rowert, all of Marysville; Beulah White of Goodells; and Nina Darling of Port Huron. Services were in Grace Episcopal Church with Dr. John Boucher officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery."

Helen E. Lucas
"Port Huron - Mrs. Helen E. Lucas, 86, of Port Huron died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Port Huron Hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1913, in Port Huron to the late William and Jennie (Nestle) Pollock. She married Frank J. Lucas June 12, 1936, in Gardendale. He died Oct. 28, 1992. Mrs. Lucas retired as a licensed practical nurse at Mercy Hospital after 20 years of service. Her hobbies were china painting and reading. She is survived by a son, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas F. (Deborah) Lucas; a granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. Andrew (Jenny) Ealy, all of Port Huron; two sisters, Marion Sharp of Port Bryon, Ill., and Virginia Cadotte of Jeddo; several nieces and nephews, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Pollock. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2000, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Rev. Gary Aupperle and the Rev. Robert S. Keller of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be Brian Campbell, William Hooper, James Fry, Robert Hopkins, Russell Sarrine and Donald Pickett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Townley, Ernest Spratto and Robert Zabik. Memorials may be made to Colonial Woods Missionary Church or Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home."

Harriet Luck
"The death of Harriet Luck, wife of Henry Luck, occurred at her home on Cass street, Tuesday morning at 7:30 o'clock. Cause of death, senility. Mrs. Luck was born in the state of Michigan on the 28th day of March, 1835, being 75 years, 10 months and 23 days of age at her death. She was married to Henry Luck on Jan. 1, 1856, and besides the husband three children survive.
The funeral will be held at the Baptist church on Thursday at 2 o'clock p.m., interment being in Hillside cemetery."

Ralph W. Luebke
"Grand Rapids - Ralph W. Luebke, 80, passed away early Monday, Jan. 24, 2000. Mr. Luebke was born to Pastor William Luebke and Magdalena Luebke on Aug. 19, 1919, in Shelby. He was raised in Muskegon, where he was an accomplished baseball player. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from the University of Michigan. He worked as an executive for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years, living in the Detroit, Grand Rapids and PortHuron areas. He retired in 1980. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving man by his wife of 56 years, Bernice, and his children, Tom Luebke of Grand Rapids, Daniel and Janet Luebke of Kalamazoo, Mary and George Bennett of Port Huron; eight grandchildren, Tom, Lisa, Levi, Eric and Katie Luebke, and Adam and Laura Bennett; one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Valarie Luebke; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lee Roth, Georgia Luebke, Jean Decker, Ann Wierenga, George and Lois Flik, Bob and Jackie Wierenga, and Don and Judy Wierenga. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 2727 5 Mile Road NE. Pastor Terry House will officiate. Interment will be in Fairplains Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center or Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Fund."

"Memphis - Joseph Lukasik, 71, died June 13 at Mercy Hospital, Port Huron. He was born Feb. 8, 1913 in Poland, and married Helen Wisniewski in 1945 in Kentucky. Mr. Lukasik was employed at Empire Tool for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Lawerence of toledo and Joseph C. of Goodells; four daughters Jeanny Griffin of Wisconsin, Diane Vassen of Illinois, Mary Wroblewski of Germany and Connie Delorey of Emmett; and two sisters, Genevieve Suwalkowski and Helen Okay, both of Memphis. Services were held at the All Saints Church of Memphis with the Rev. Rene Desmarais, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were made by Kammeraad Funeral Home and the burial will be at Our Lay of Mt. Carmel, Emmett."

Margaret Ann "Peggy" Lumley & Mary Catherine "Kay" Lumley
"Marine City - Mary Catherine (Kay) Lumley, age 61, and Margaret Ann (Peggy) Lumley, age 34, both of Marine City, went to be with their Lord on Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident. They were born in St. Clair; Kay on Nov. 13, 1937, a daughter to Louis and Mary A. (Regan) Burns, and Peggy on July 11, 1965, a daughter to Edward James and Mary Catherine (Burns) Lumley. Kay resided in Port Huron for the past 10 years but prior to that lived mostly in Marine City. She was employed by the East China School District as a bus driver and dispatcher. She was active with ARC of St. Clair County and she enjoyed exploring her family genealogy. Kay is survived by 4 children, Ed (Lori) Lumley of Hale, Sue Smith of Port Huron, Jane (Mark) Orchard of Marine City, and JoAnn Lumley of Port Huron; her sister, Lou Ann (Jack) Volkman of Algonac; ex-husband Edward James Lumley of Marine City; and 10 grandchildren, Sandra Lumley Foskett, Edward L., Kathy, and Kurt Lumley, David and William Smith, Catherine Lewis, John and Jason Orchard, and Michael Lumley. Peggy is survived by her son, Michael; father, Edward James Lumley; brother, Ed; sisters, Sue Smith, Jane Orchard, and JoAnn Lumley and 9 nieces and nephews. Peggy had also lived in Port Huron for 8 years but currently resided in Marine City. She was a U.S. Army veteran, a 1984 graduate of Marine City High School, and a graduate of St. Clair County Community College where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa sorority and served as its chapter president last year. Peggy was currently a pre-law student at Wayne State University. She has also been employed in restaurant management. A memorial service for Kay and her daughter, Peggy, will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m in the Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City, with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Zukowski officiating. The family will receive visitors in the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday an hour prior to service. Memorials may be directed to the family."

4 Killed in Two Accidents - by Tony Manolatos; Times Herald
"Four people died, two others are hospitalized and one man is being held for his involvement in one of two fatal car accidents this morning and Sunday afternoon, St. Clair County sheriff officials said. Larry Reiter, 25, of Kimball Township died about 1:30 a.m. in the township, Deputy Tom Jackson said. A semi-truck failed to stop for a blinking red light and hit the driver' side of Mr. Reiter's car, he said. Mr. Reiter was heading south on Wadhams Road. The trucker, a 44 year-old Kentucky man, was going west on Lapeer road, Deputy Jackson said. The truck driver is being held in the county jail without bond. Sunday afternoon, Lemuel Neely was killed in China Township after witnesses said a chase may have led him to cross the center line of Marine City Highway. His minivan struck another minivan head-on about 2:30. Mary Orchard, the driver of the second minivan, was heading east on the highway. Mr. Neely, 41, was traveling west. Also killed were Ms. Orchard's mother and sister-- Margaret Lumley, 34, and Mary Lumley, 61, Deputy Jackson said. Ms. Orchard and a child in her minivan were transported to a hospital. Their conditions were unavailable today."

October 27, 1999 - 4 Dead on Marine City Highway - by Kathryn J. Ribant; Voice Staff Writer
"Four people were killed as a result of a car accident along Marine City Highway between Indian Trail and McKinley Roads at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, Police believe the accident was caused by high rates of speed. According to Deputy Tom Jackson of the St. Clair County Sheriff Department, Lemuel Neely, a 51-year-old Marine City resident; Mary Lumley, a 61-year-old Port Huron resident; Margaret Lumley, a 34-year old Marine City resident and her son, two-year-old Michael Lumley, were killed in the accident. Neely, the lone occupant in one Ford Aerostar, was westbound in his Ford Aerostar Mini-van at what police think to be about 100 miles per hour. He apparently attempted to pass another vehilcle, moved into the eastbound land and hit head-on the other Aerostar driven by Mary Orchard, containing the two Lumley women and the two-year-old. The second Aerostar flew back into the westbound lane and was hit again by an oncoming vehicle. Neely's car and the third car involved landed in a ditch, one upside down, and the second Aerostar came to rest in the westbound lane. Orchard and the two-year-old survived the accident. Orchard was not injured. 'She was talking and everything to one of the other deputies,' Jackson said. The boy was originally taken to River District Hospital but Jackson said he was transferred to another hospital where he died on Monday from complications from the accident. The four passengers, in the third car did not sustain injuries. Michigan State Police assisted the sheriff department with the accident. 'People speed everywhere,' said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Morenko. 'Not too many of them go 100 miles per hour, though. People do have a propensity to speed out there and this guy seemed to be carrying it way too far.'"

Hazel Penniman Luther
"Daytona Beach, Fla - Hazel Penniman Luther, the oldest woman in Florida, died Friday, She was 113. Born Dec. 11, 1889 , Luther was the world's nineth-oldest living person, according to the Gerontology Research Group. She was the fifth-oldest living American and the second-oldest Florida resident: John McMorran of Lakeland, and a former Port Huron resident, was born 175 days before Luther. At her 113th birthday party, Luther was asked if she wanted to live forever. "I think I already have," she replied. Luther attended Juilliard School of Music, then known as the Institute of Musical Art, and earned two diplomas in singing. She performed classical music and taught voice lessons. She met her husband, Robert Luther, in 1918. They moved to Detroit, where he worked for Provident Mutual Life Insurance company. They moved to Daytona Beach in the mid-1950's when they retired. Hazel Luther lived alone after her husband's death in 1957 until she was 104."

"A Railroad Brakeman's Death. - Michael Lynch, of this city, was injured in the Chicago & Grand Trunk yard at Lapeer at about six o'clock on Saturday morning and died a few hours later. He was coupling cars and slipped and fell under a car. He was at one time employed on the transfer boat Huron, at Fort Gratiot. He leaves a wife and child to mourn him. They reside in the Fifth ward."
