How You Can Help

Volunteer to help by adopting a cemetery near you or by working with another “Pillars of Honor” researcher! Perhaps you like to walk cemeteries and take photos or your cup of tea might be doing online research...we need YOU!

It has been nearly 100 years since the last of our Civil War Veterans has passed from this earthly life. Their original headstone has either worn down to illegible text or has fallen into disrepair by the harshness of Michigan winters, vandalism and/or the effects of acid rain. Most of the original stones were made of either sandstone or marble (a soft porous material) not made to hold up to years of wear and tear.
