James Edmund Lucas, 28, of Gaylord, died Saturday, April 21, 2001. Jim was born Nov. 16, 1972 in Charleston, S.C. and moved to Gaylord in 1976 from Central Lake. He was a 1990 graduate of Gaylord High School.

Jim was employed by Force Energy the past two years and had previously worked for Wcisel Construction. He enjoyed "Ski-doo," snowmobiling, golfing and hunting. He deeply loved his "Kenzier and Max-a-roo."

Jim is survived by his wife, Sarah; two children, Makenzie and Max Lucas; his father, Dean Lucas of Gaylord; his mother, Marilyn Lucas of Central Lake; brother, Jonathon David Lucas of Central Lake; two half-sisters, Harmony and Kathleen Lucas of Gaylord; paternal grandparents, George and Kathleen Lucas of Gaylord; maternal grandmother, Avabelle Carpenter of Central Lake; father- and mother-in-law, Ernie and Jackie Wcisel of Gaylord; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David E. Carpenter, and his brother-in-law, Dewey Goff.

Funeral services were on Tuesday, April 24 from the Nelson Funeral Home, the Rev. John Naile officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord. Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home was on Monday and Tuesday.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jim Lucas may be made to the Makenzie and Max Lucas Trust Fund, through the Nelson Funeral Home.
