Shirley M. (Kanaby) Tenbusch
July 23, 1929 – November 4, 2001
Shirley M. Tenbusch, 72, of Harbor Beach passed away Sunday evening, November 4, 2001, at Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. Born in Detroit on July 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Bamberg) Kanaby. She and Lavern Gentner were
united in marriage on August 6, 1949, in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.
Lavern preceded her in death on April 4, 1977. On April 18, 1980, Shirley married Roman Tenbusch in St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Parisville. Roman preceded her in death on October 12, 1986. Shirley was a
parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, and was a life member of the VFW Parisville Post
Auxiliary in Ruth. She was a member of the Euchre Club at the Harbor House in Harbor Beach and enjoyed doing puzzles, card playing and
bingo.
She is survived by her children, Donald Gentner of Forestville, Ruth Gentner of Harbor Beach, Barbara Halifax and her husband, Charles, of Minden City, Joanne Peyerk and her husband,
Kevin, of Richmond, David Gentner
of Saginaw, and Mary Homrich and her husband, Dennis, of Kinde; seven
grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie Killion and her husband, Buck,
of Mount Morris, Dorothy Toruk and her husband, Nick, of Cedarville, and Peggy Messing and her
husband, John, of Harbor Beach.
The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
November 7, 2001, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach,
with burial in the SS. Peter and Paul Church cemetery near Ruth. The VFW Auxiliary will have a memorial
service at 6:30
p.m. and a parish vigil
service will take place at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach. Visitation
will be 1
to 9 p.m. today and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Anne (Schmitz) Tenbusch
August 17, 1915 – April 2, 2001
Mrs. Anne Tenbusch, 85, of Ruth passed away Monday, April 2,
2001, at Covenant
Transitional Care Unit of Saginaw after a courageous battle with heart
disease. She was born on August 17, 1915, in Ruth to the late Joseph and Lena
(Braun) Schmitz of Huron County. She married Albert Tenbusch on November 27, 1940, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. After nearly 60 years of marriage, her
husband preceded her in death on August 5, 2000. Anne was a
graduate of SS. Peter and Paul Elementary
School and
a life-long parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Ruth
where she was an honorary member of the Christian Mothers' Society. Anne was a gifted seamstress designing
patterns and constructing beautiful clothing. She was also talented in cross
stitch, embroidery and crocheting. Her hobbies included baking, gardening,
reading, and playing cards.
A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Anne is
survived by one son, James Tenbusch
and his wife, Gretchen, of Bad Axe; five daughters, Diane Godi and her husband, Frank,
of Frankenmuth, Judy Matuszewski and her husband, Arthur, of
Frankenmuth, Alicia Mazure
and her husband, Richard, of Ubly, Peggy
Randall and her husband, Harold, of Caro, and Sally Bellsky and her husband,
Chuck, of Frankenmuth; one step-son, Joseph Tenbusch of Hale; 17
grandchildren, Mary Birks, Christopher Godi, Michael
and Cheryl Matuszewski, Karen Weber, Kevin and Paul
Mazure, Becky Goodheart, Jason Cavitt,
Matthew and Jordan Randall, David, Thomas and Jennifer Bellsky,
Keith, Gregory, and Chad Tenbusch; four great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law,
John Tenbusch of Minden City and Edward Tenbusch of Grosse Pointe; one
sister-in-law, Bea Tenbusch of Ruth; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Particka, Mary Schumacher, and Rose Tenbusch; and one
brother, Anthony Schmitz.
Mass of Christian burial for Anne Tenbusch will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2001, in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth
with the Rev. Steve Gavit, pastor, and the Rev. Ramon
Matuszewski officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Christian Mothers Rosary will
be at 8 tonight and a Parish Wake Service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, both at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral
Home in Ubly. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9:30
tonight, 1 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to SS. Peter and Paul

Albert H. Tenbusch
November 25, 1910 – August 5, 2000
Albert (Bert) H. Tenbusch, 89, of Ruth died Saturday, August 5, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center Cooper, Saginaw, after a short illness. He was born November 25, 1910, in Huron County, son of the late Frances (Clor) and John Tenbusch. He married Anne Schmitz on November 27, 1940, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. He was a graduate of Pumpkin Center School. He was employed by Michigan Sugar Co. for 29 years. He participated in local government by serving on the Delaware Township Board of Review, Property Zoning Commission and Planning Board. Bert, in his younger days, spent five seasons sailing the Great Lakes and shared many fond memories of those bygone years. He was a lifelong parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Parish, where he served as a member of the Parish Council and was a former Knights of Columbus member. He was an avid reader and ambitious farmer all his life. He enjoyed playing cards and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Albert was a devoted husband and loving father.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Alphonse Sr.; and two sisters, Loretta Braun and Hyacinth Sadro.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. The Rev. Steve Gavit, pastor, and the Rev. Ronald Wagner will both officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A parish wake service will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Visitation will be 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to SS. John B. Tenbusch
April 26, 1920 – October 14, 2003
John B. Tenbusch, 83, of Minden City, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2003, unexpectedly in his sleep at his home. John was born on April 26, 1920 in Minden City to the late John and Frances (Clor) Tenbusch. He married Rose Schmitz on November 27, 1940 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. She preceded him in death on September 1, 1995. John graduated from the Pumpkin Center School and was a school board member for many years. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, where he was a past parish council member and retired usher of 28 years. He was a member of the Elm Creek Farm Bureau. He was employed by Michigan Sugar Company for 40 years as a pile operator. He enjoyed euchre and all card games, visiting with family and friends, watching shipping at the Soo Locks, visiting various casinos, and watching game shows on TV.
John is survived by one son, John Tenbusch Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Minden City; three daughters, Bonnie Siemen and her husband, Larry, of Harbor Beach, Mary Ann Stacer and her husband, Charles, of Ruth, Janie Dixon, of Saginaw; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Tenbusch, of Grosse Pointe; one sister-in-law, Bea Tenbusch, of Ruth. John was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, of more than 50 years; four infant children; two brothers, Alphonse, Sr. and Albert Tenbusch; two sisters, Loretta Braun and Hyacinth Sadro.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2003, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth. The Rev. Steve Gavit, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. today, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday. There will be a rosary at 8 p.m. tonight by the Ss. Peter and Paul Ushers Club and a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday by Fr. Steve Gavit. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.

Beatrice Lillian (Halifax) Tenbusch
May 24, 1910 – April 23, 2004
Beatrice Lillian Tenbusch, 93, of Ruth and formerly of Minden City, passed away on Friday evening, April 23, 2004, at her daughter's residence under hospice care. She was born May 24, 1910 in Minden City, daughter of the late George and Helen (Turk) Halifax. She married Alphonse J. Tenbusch, Sr. on July 25, 1928 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Detroit. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1991. Beatrice attended Kelly School of Minden City. She was a parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth and a former member of the St. Mary's Rosary Sodality of Parisville. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed bingo, playing cards and crocheting.
She is survived by five sons: Gerald Tenbusch and his wife, Joanne, of Northport, Florida, Donald Tenbusch and his wife, Annie, of Middleburg, Florida, Gaylord "Butch" Tenbusch and his wife, Faye, of Chesapeake, Virginia, Charles "Bill" Tenbusch and his wife, Marge, of Northport, Florida, Richard "Dick" Tenbusch and his wife, Carol, of Deckerville; three daughters: Loraine McCoy and her husband, Frank, of Marlette, Marlene Peruski and her husband, Michael, of Northport, Florida, Karen Gentner and her husband, Dennis, of Ruth; 39
grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Tenbusch, of Ruth; son-in-law, Frank Molloy, of Deckerville; brother-in-law, Edward Tenbusch, of Grosse Pointe. Beatrice was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Molloy; one son, Alphonse Tenbusch, Jr.; two granddaughters, Donna Tenbusch and Sheila Moore; one great-grandson, Cody Ruchgy; four sisters: Mabel Bochek, Cecilia Moore, Emma Schumacher, Laura Deike; two brothers: William Halifax and Charlie Halifax.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2004, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth with the Rev. Steven Gavit officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Parisville. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Alphonse J. Tenbusch, Jr.

Alphonse J. Tenbusch, Jr., 71, of Ruth passed away Sunday, September 3, 2000, at his home with his family following a long illness. Born on March 9, 1929, in Detroit, he was the son of Beatrice (Halifax) Tenbusch and the late Alphonse Tenbusch, Sr. He and Geraldine Terbrack were married on August 27, 1949, at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Ruth. Alphonse sailed on the Great Lakes for three years and farmed and worked for the Surface Mausoleum Co. in Minden City for 30 years, and he was a security guard for 15 years. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Usher's Club since 1951, the sexton of the church cemetery for 38 years, and a charter member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council No. 3823. He was an avid softball player for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Tenbusch of Ruth; three sons, Robert Tenbusch and his fiancée, Susan Habedank of Clarkston, Mark Tenbusch and his wife, Connie, and Thomas Tenbusch, Sr., and his wife, Betty, both of Harbor Beach; two daughters, Lauretta Allen and her husband, Dale, of Mount Morris,
